Defenseman Matt Grzelcyk has signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. The nine-year veteran was left without a contract this offseason but earned himself a deal with the Blackhawks during training camp. It was quite surprising that Grzelcyk failed to land a contract in the summer, considering he had a respectable 40-point campaign with the Pittsburgh Penguins last term. This was Grzelcyk's best offensive campaign in the NHL, and he also recorded a career-high 101 blocks in 82 games. Picking up Grzelcyk at a low cost could turn out to be a coup for the Blackhawks if he replicates last year's form.--Taavi PailkRead More News
