Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) is progressing well in his recovery from a strained right hamstring and could return during the final week of the regular season, Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. After Turner took grounders at shortstop over the weekend, manager Rob Thomson said that "it looks like he's ahead of schedule." Turner's progress since going on the 10-day injured list on Sept. 8 is highly encouraging for the Phillies as the postseason approaches. The Phillies hold an insurmountable 12-game lead in the NL East, and the 32-year-old is among the reasons for that. Turner leads the NL in batting average and has slashed .305/.356/.458 with 15 homers, 69 RBI, 94 runs scored, and 36 stolen bases over 637 plate appearances. Edmundo Sosa (groin) initially took over for Turner at short, but he was out of the lineup with a groin injury over the weekend. That left Bryson Stott to handle short, while Donovan Walton and Weston Wilson split time at second.--Connor Byrne
