Should I start Zay Flowers, Jauan Jennings, Tee Higgins for Week 2? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
The wide receiver position tends to be heavily boom-or-bust in fantasy football. We often see that even the league's best receivers have poor games. It can be tough to predict when such an outing is coming up, too, so that makes start/sit decisions difficult sometimes.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers, San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings (shoulder), and Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins are all players who have had big games mixed with duds through their careers. In recent seasons, this has been especially true for players like Flowers and Jennings.
But we aren't worried about what they've done in the past -- rather, we're concerned with what we think they'll do in their upcoming games. So let's dive into the start or sit recommendations for Flowers, Jennings, and Higgins for Week 2!
Should I Start Zay Flowers for Fantasy Football?
Flowers had a huge game in Week 1. Despite low overall passing volume from quarterback Lamar Jackson, who completed just 14 of 19 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns, Flowers scored 28.1 PPR fantasy points, catching seven of nine targets for 143 yards and a touchdown.
Earlier this offseason, Zay Flowers talked about getting upfield more quickly after the catch, rather than dancing around. He showed it on Sunday night with 90 yards after the catch, a career high for the third-year wideout. 🚀 #Ravenspic.twitter.com/R5k8xVKge4

Flowers' absolutely massive target share came at the expense of the rest of the Ravens' pass-catchers. Interestingly, tight end Mark Andrews was targeted only once. He figures to be more involved moving forward. WR Rashod Bateman had four targets, DeAndre Hopkins had two, and RB Justice Hill had two.
Tight end Isaiah Likely (foot) hasn't returned to practice, so his handful of targets should continue to be distributed among the other pass-catchers. This could lead to higher than normal volume for Flowers in Week 2, so he should be started.
Should I Start Jauan Jennings for Fantasy Football?
Jennings is working through a shoulder injury, and it's not known yet if he'll play in Week 2. If he does, he'll face less target competition, as elite tight end George Kittle (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury after Week 1.
But starting quarterback Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) won't be available for Week 2 -- he's anticipated to have to miss at least two weeks with turf toe and an ailment in his non-throwing shoulder, with the toe injury being more serious. In his place, QB Mac Jones will start.
Brock Purdy has a left shoulder and toe injury that make him uncertain for Sunday’s game in New Orleans. Kyle Shanahan said the team will see how the practice week goes.

The Shanahan offense tends to help even poorer quarterbacks put up impressive numbers, so it's not like all is lost. Between Jennings' injury and the downgrade at passer, it's hard to know if Jennings can be trusted to put up good numbers. So it's probably safer to put him on the bench for now.
We could see a game with massive target volume for RB Christian McCaffrey and WR Ricky Pearsall.
Should I Start Tee Higgins for Fantasy Football?
Higgins had a disappointing Week 1. He was only targeted four times, catching three passes for 33 yards, for a total of 6.3 PPR fantasy points. But it was against the Cleveland Browns, who typically have suffocating defensive performances against their divisional rival, the Bengals.
Cincinnati QB Joe Burrow completed 14 of his 23 pass attempts for just 113 passing yards and one pass touchdown as the offense failed miserably on drive after drive. WR Ja'Marr Chase, the receiving Triple Crown winner from 2024, managed just two catches for 26 yards. Divisional rivalry matchups can be weird.

Still, you shouldn't take him out of your starting lineups. Higgins should be fine moving forward. He had elite upside last season, and scored 19.8, 19.8, and 40.1 PPR fantasy points in weeks 15-17, and should have many clutch performances moving forward, if he can stay healthy.
The Bengals didn't make a lot of improvements to their defense in the offseason, and their defensive roster is still full of concerning holes. They should continue to struggle on defense and shine in the passing game. They don't play Cleveland again until Week 18, thankfully. Start Higgins in Week 2.
