Brock Purdy 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Too Many Concerns to be Trusted Fully
Brock Purdy saw his statistical contributions decline substantially last season. He appeared in 15 contests, completing 65.9% of his passes for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. The 49ers struggled to keep guys on the field, with Christian McCaffrey (knee), Brandon Aiyuk (knee), Deebo Samuel Sr., and George Kittle all missing time. Still, Purdy at least did enough to land a hefty five-year, $265 million contract extension. With a new deal, he will do his best to spearhead an offense that no longer has Samuel, who was traded to the Washington Commanders. Aiyuk is also returning from a torn ACL and MCL sustained during the Week 7 clash with the Kansas City Chiefs. Of course, there are doubts about whether McCaffrey can stay healthy. Purdy comes in as QB10 in the latest RotoBaller rankings. He did improve regarding his efforts as a runner last season, amassing 323 yards and five touchdowns off 66 carries. However, outside of that, fantasy managers have major concerns about Purdy's potential in other statistical areas. Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall will need to step it up. McCaffrey must also remain off the injury report. If those things happen, along with an earlier return by Aiyuk, the signal-caller should play as well as he did in 2024, at the very least. On the other hand, fantasy managers may feel more comfortable taking a quarterback who doesn't have as many red flags, such as Jared Goff, Caleb Williams, or Kyler Murray, who ranked a few spots below him.
