Walker Jenkins Begins Rehab Assignment on Tuesday
Walker Jenkins (ankle) began a rehab assignment with the team's Florida Complex League (FCL) affiliate on Tuesday, going 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored. He was also caught stealing once, but it is good to see that the sore ankle that has kept him out for all but two games this season was put to the test. It's unclear how long he'll be with the FCL Twins, but given how long his absence was, the Twins' top prospect (MLB No. 6) will probably need a handful of games there before potentially moving the rehab to another level. The former fifth-overall draft pick has just eight games at Double-A in his career, so look for him to rejoin Double-A Wichita once the rehab assignment is complete, and hopefully can build some momentum towards Triple-A by the end of the year. The 6-foot-3 slugger has one of the best hit tools in the minors to go along with good power and speed, and could have a big fantasy impact as soon as next year.
