When is Brandon Sproat getting called up? Will Brandon Sproat pitch in April of this MLB season? Read about Brandon Sproat's debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2025.
Since being drafted in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft, pitcher Brandon Sproat has quickly risen through the minor league ranks. After going from High-A to Double-A to Triple-A last season, Sproat entered the 2025 season as MLB Pipeline's No. 43 overall prospect.
Sproat had a solid first minor league season in the Mets organization, and he should only get better in 2025. With the Mets dealing with some rotation injuries early on, the right-hander could be called up to the major league roster in the coming months.
So, when can we expect Sproat to pitch in the majors? Will he be promoted by May? Let's dive in and find out.

Brandon Sproat Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
Sproat started his minor league career at High-A at the beginning of last season, but it wasn't long before he was promoted to Double-A. The right-hander had a 1.07 ERA with 33 strikeouts in six appearances with the Brooklyn Cyclones. That dominance continued at Double-A, as he allowed just 17 runs in 62 1/3 innings pitched (2.45 ERA) across 11 starts.

Pitching well in his first 17 minor league appearances, the Mets decided to promote him to Triple-A toward the end of the 2024 season. However, Sproat struggled at that level. He finished with a 7.53 ERA and 21 strikeouts across seven starts with the Syracuse Mets. Opposing hitters also had a .313 batting average against him in those seven appearances.
As a result, it made sense that Sproat wouldn't make the Mets' Opening Day roster. He simply needed more experience at the Triple-A level. Although the right-hander has dealt with some struggles at Triple-A Syracuse to begin the year, his time in the majors will come at some point this season. Fantasy managers should expect him to make his debut this summer.
Brandon Sproat Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
There were some rumblings that Sproat was in contention to start against the Cardinals this week if Griffin Canning (illness) could not. With Canning expected to be good to go on Thursday, though, the Mets will not call up their No. 43 overall prospect to make a start.

It's hard to know exactly when the right-hander will make his MLB debut. Sean Manaea (oblique) and Frankie Montas (lat strain) will return to New York's rotation by June, which could hurt Sproat's chances of getting promoted. Therefore, he isn't a strong stash candidate in most fantasy leagues right now.
