Heston Kjerstad 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Will The Slugger Find Playing Time?
Heston Kjerstad mashed in the minors, hitting 16 home runs in 280 plate appearances while slashing .303/.401/.584 with Norfolk. Getting a small MLB sample in May, Kjerstad returned to Triple-A after limited playing time. He got the call back to the majors in late June but wound up missing a week in July and then all of August and half of September. Kjerstad saw 114 plate appearances with Baltimore, putting up a .253/.351/.394 slash line with four home runs. The power is legit; the 26-year-old put up a 90th percentile exit velocity of 105 mph and an average exit velocity on pulled fly balls of 100 mph. The contact skills are good enough for Kjerstad to put up decent batting averages. The biggest question is, where does Kjerstad find playing time? Brandon Hyde and Mike Elias have both stated that Kjerstad has done everything he can and deserves a spot in the lineup. The problem is that they have Tyler O'Neill, Cedric Mullins, and Colton Cowser in the outfield. The biggest opportunity is taking Ryan O'Hearn's DH role.
