Javon Baker 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Could Earn Starting Role In Open Receiver Room
Javon Baker in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. This came two rounds after they took Washington's Ja'Lynn Polk as they reinforced a receiving room in need. Baker spent two years as a backup at Alabama before transferring to UCF for a pair of solid campaigns, headlined by 1,139 yards on 52 catches as a senior. Averaging over 20 yards per catch speaks to a true burner, but the scouting report has his game speed as far more effective than the timed speed illustrated by the 4.54 40-yard dash. At 6-foot-1, Baker also does a good job timing the ball in contested spots. Both he and Polk should have a good chance at earning reps amidst Demario Douglas, K.J. Osborn, and a rehabbing Kendrick Bourne. Baker's fantasy fate may rest on how effective Drake Maye's deep ball is. For now, Baker is a nice upside stash available after pick 200 in most drafts and sits as RotoBaller's WR88 in half-PPR preseason ranks.
