ANALYSIS: Chicago Cubs starting pitching prospect Cade Horton was recently promoted to Triple-A. He is approaching his major league debut and is worth stashing in deeper formats.
Horton began the season with Double-A Tennessee and dominated with a stellar 1.10 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 18:2 K:BB ratio.

However, Horton has hit a bit of a roadblock when adjusting to Triple-A bats. Through his first three starts at this level, the number two prospect in the Cubs system has a much higher 8.25 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and 9:14 K:BB ratio.
The 22-year-old has progressed quickly through the Cubs system after being selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. Horton opened the 2023 season in Single-A and reached Double-A by the end of the summer.
Even though former Oklahoma Sooner is showing some growing pains at Triple-A, he should be expected to join the major league roster later this summer and is worth stashing in deeper redraft formats for now.
