Bengals Release Brandon Allen
The Cincinnati Bengals released veteran quarterback Brandon Allen and veteran safety Michael J. Thomas and waived running back Trayveon Williams on Wednesday after claiming three players off waivers. There's a strong possibility that Allen will return to the team's roster, since they currently have no backup behind starter Joe Burrow. The 29-year-old signal-caller was originally a sixth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016 out of the University of Arkansas. In 14 career games (nine starts) with the Denver Broncos and Bengals, Allen has gone 146-for-260 (56.2 completion percentage) for 1,589 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He's started six games for the Bengals the last two seasons.
