The top Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver was not expected to be William Byron. Byron surprised the field on Sunday as he held everyone off. His first win of the season coming at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 was a shocker. He just barely held off Ross Chastain and Kurt Busch. Byron did win Stage 1 unexpectedly and maybe that was a harbinger of things to come. Either way, his speed was there all race long. He led a race-high 111 laps out of the 325. Byron has now cemented his playoff spot just five races into the 2022 season. More importantly, he showed he could win on this hybrid track. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
