Week 12 Fantasy Football Tight End Outlooks

Brock Wright, Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright (ankle) immediately slotted in as a full-time player in Week 11, with Sam LaPorta (back) placed on Injured Reserve. Wright played 83.1% of the snaps and ran 59% of the routes, finishing with two catches for eight yards on a career high seven targets against the Eagles. The Lions' offense struggled collectively, with Jared Goff completing just 37.8% of his passes. Wright was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury, so that will be something to monitor in the coming days.

But it is positive to see Wright get the role and usage in LaPorta's absence, and he is set to be a consistent piece of one of the league's best offenses for the next handful of games. Assuming he plays in Week 12 against the Giants, Wright could be a streaming option for fantasy managers in need of a bye week replacement.

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry has momentum on his side ahead of Sunday's favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12. Henry bounced back from a Week 10 dud by catching four of his six targets for 45 yards in Week 11. He is one of Drake Maye's favorite targets, establishing himself as a fringe top-12 tight end in fantasy football. Henry is an intriguing option in the Patriots' offense, but his ceiling has arguably never been higher than it is this week against the Bengals. Cincinnati has the league's worst defense against tight ends, and it's not particularly close. They have allowed the most receiving yards, the most touchdowns, and the most fantasy points to tight ends in 2025.

The gap in fantasy points allowed by the Bengals and the second-worst defense against tight ends is actually greater than the gap between the second-worst defense and the league median. Meanwhile, Cincy's 12 touchdowns allowed to tight ends are five more than the next-highest. Time and time again, tight ends have feasted against the Bengals. Now, it's Henry's turn. He ranks as a mid-to-high TE1 with an extremely favorable matchup on tap.

AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner is coming off an excellent performance against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11. Barner hauled 10 of his 11 targets for 70 yards in the loss. It was a bit shocking to see Barner get double-digit targets, but he made the most of his chances. Sadly for fantasy managers, Barner will continue to split up the reps with Elijah Arroyo.

That means Barner is probably going to have a limited ceiling, but he can still offer fantasy value. The 23-year-old should be able to give fantasy managers at least TE2 value for the upcoming Week 12 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has been extremely consistent this season, getting plenty of volume for PPR leagues. He has at least five catches in seven of his last eight games and has 20 targets from backup QB Davis Mills over the last two weeks. Mills will make another start against the Bills on Thursday Night Football with C.J. Stroud (concussion) still sidelined.

The Bills have allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, so it's a tough spot for Schultz, despite his regular production. RotoBaller has Schlutz ranked as the No. 12 TE this week, making him a fringe starter in standard-sized leagues and a great TE2. He has more value in leagues where his number of receptions can help him compensate for low yardage totals.

Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said on Wednesday that he's "optimistic" about tight end Brenton Strange (hip) returning in Week 12 to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, according to Mia O'Brien. However, Coen also said, "I really don't know" about Strange's status. The Jaguars opened the 24-year-old's 21-day practice window last week, and he managed to put in two limited practices before being ruled out for the Week 11 blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Strange is probably going to need to upgrade to full practice this week if the Jags are going to activate him from Injured Reserve and have him active this Sunday in Sin City. But fantasy managers looking for a streaming TE the rest of the way should be looking at Strange, especially since rookie receiver Travis Hunter (knee) is out for the rest of the year. Strange caught 20 passes for 204 yards and no TDs in five games before his injury.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that tight end David Njoku (knee) is considered day-to-day with a knee injury and is "working hard to be able to play" in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders, per Scott Petrak of BrownsZone. Across nine games this season, the 29-year-old has hauled in 30 receptions for 288 yards and three touchdowns on 45 targets. However, Njoku's usage has trended down in recent weeks, as he's hauled in just three catches for 28 yards on four targets over his last two games.

If Njoku is unable to play in Week 12, it could mean a boost in playing time and target share for Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. Over his last five games, Fannin Jr. is averaging seven targets per game and could profile as a low-end fantasy TE1 if Njoku is out.
