Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 10:

Rashid Shaheed, WR, Seahawks
Trade Value: 23.2
ROS Rank: 98

The Seattle Seahawks are acquiring wide receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, sources tell Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. It's unknown what the Saints are receiving as compensation from the Seahawks. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been one of the best receivers in the NFL for the Seahawks so far in his second NFL season, but now Seattle will have a legitimate deep threat for rising quarterback Sam Darnold as they push to become a real Super Bowl contender in the second half of the season.

Shaheed, 27, had 44 catches on 66 targets for 499 yards and two touchdowns over nine games in New Orleans while working mostly with QB Spencer Rattler. In Seattle, he should have a more stable floor and a higher ceiling in fantasy football in a passing offense that is humming right now. The addition of Shaheed will be bad news for rookie receiver Tory Horton, who caught two touchdowns in the Sunday night win over the Washington Commanders.

Verdict: Consider selling high on a perceived highly positive change in scenery

Josh Downs, WR, Colts
Trade Value: 23.5
ROS Rank: 96

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has been a key piece of the offense all season and has now scored in three consecutive games. Downs caught six of nine targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 27-20 loss to the Steelers in Week 9, tying with Alec Pierce for second on the team in receptions.

The 24-year-old has now recorded at least six receptions in three of his last four games and has become Daniel Jones' favorite target on third downs, leading the team with a 30% targets per route run. For the season, Downs' production has been overshadowed by Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie Tyler Warren, and lately, Alec Pierce, but he's still an integral piece of the vaunted Colts offense. Downs is a solid WR3/flex option in most weeks, and with plenty of bye weeks still to come, he is a solid option to add off the waiver wire for Week 10.

Verdict: Buy at a fair price

DK Metcalf, WR, Steelers
Trade Value: 47
ROS Rank: 46

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf logged just two receptions for six yards on four targets in a 27-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. On paper, everything was set up for Metcalf to deliver on Sunday, but he instead turned in his worst performance of the season. He took a backseat to Calvin Austin IIIDarnell Washington, and Pat Freiermuth, failing to receive a single opportunity in the second half. If there's any silver lining, it's that Metcalf was targeted by Aaron Rodgers twice inside the five-yard line.

Better days are certainly ahead for the seventh-year pro, and Pittsburgh still clearly views him as its WR1 after standing pat at receiver through the NFL trade deadline. That said, expectations should be tempered for Metcalf against a tough Los Angeles Chargers defense in Week 10.

Verdict: Consider buying low as a boom-bust WR2/3 option

Quentin Johnston, WR, Chargers
Trade Value: 40
ROS Rank: 59

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston bounced back on Sunday in the team's 27-20 win over the Tennessee Titans, catching four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown, his sixth of the season. After not being targeted last week, Johnston was quickly integrated into the game plan and made the most of his opportunities.

However, the Chargers' offensive line remains a major concern after losing Joe Alt (ankle) for the season and surrendering six sacks to a short-handed Titans defense. Next week, the Bolts face a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has been vulnerable all season but recently held the red-hot Indianapolis Colts in check. Johnston remains a volatile WR3 with touchdown upside if Herbert can avoid pressure and connect with him downfield.

Verdict: Sell high on bounceback performance

Who Should I Trade For?

Week 10 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Rashid Shaheed, Josh Downs, Derrick Henry, DK Metcalf, Keenan Allen, Quentin Johnston, De'Von Achane. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.

Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.

How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.

How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
