Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has quietly been one of the most reliable receivers on this Packers team this season and looks to keep that momentum rolling in the Packers' Week 8 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Doubs has had three straight games of eight or more targets, with at least five receptions and 55 yards in each of those games. With Doubs featured as the go-to wide receiver for Jordan Love, he's been meaningfully relied on to provide consistent production along with tight end Tucker Kraft.
With the Packers facing the Steelers on Sunday night, and Pittsburgh allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season, consider Doubs a solid WR3 option in Week 8.
Tez Johnson, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Tez Johnson has been a nice surprise for this offense over the last few weeks. This team is down multiple wideouts, but Johnson has stepped up and delivered lately.
The rookie wideout saw nine targets during last week's loss to the Detroit Lions. He hauled in four of them for 58 yards and a touchdown. The 23-year-old has scored in back-to-back games, so he'll look to extend that streak against the New Orleans Saints in Week 8.
Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) is ready to go, so Johnson should fall into the No. 2 role in the passing game. There should be enough upside here to plug in Johnson as a WR3 for this weekend.
Khalil Shakir, WR, Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir broke out in his third year in the league in 2024 with career-highs across the board in catches (76), targets (100), and receiving yards (821), but it came with only four touchdowns in 15 regular-season games (nine starts).
Going into Buffalo's Week 7 bye, Shakir had 25 receptions on 34 targets for 268 yards and two touchdowns in six games. He scored in back-to-back games in Weeks 3 and 4, but he has not exceeded 70 receiving yards in a contest this year, while the Bills continue to spread the ball around in the passing attack. In half-PPR scoring, Shakir is just inside the top 50 wideouts with 8.6 points per game.
Although the 25-year-old is one of the top wideouts in the Bills' offense, he's not a great fit in an offense that relies on power more than anything, and he's rarely targeted in the red zone. Fantasy managers might want to expect another quiet game this Sunday against a Carolina Panthers defense that has been much-improved in 2025 against the pass.
Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. enters Week 8 as RotoBaller's 40th overall-ranked wide receiver in an enticing matchup against the Dallas Cowboys at home.
Mims Jr. is coming off a hyper-efficient Week 7 where he racked up 98 offensive yards on seven touches and now faces a defense that is allowing the most offensive yards per game with 401.6 on average. In Week 7, Mims Jr. also tied his season high of 53% of offensive snaps, alluding to more opportunity for production.
If his snap share continues to trend upwards, Marvin Mims Jr. could raise his floor and become more than just a boom or bust flex play.
Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
New York Jets running back Breece Hall (knee) is in store for an excellent Week 8 matchup with the hosting Cincinnati Bengals. Hall picked up a minor knee issue in last weekend's loss to the Panthers that held him to a season-low in snap share (54%).
Per head coach Aaron Glenn, he's trending toward suiting up for Sunday's contest, and the Jets could use him with wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) set to miss another appearance. If Hall is active, he'll be poised for a significant workload against a very beatable Bengals defense.
Through seven weeks, Cincinnati has afforded opposing rushing attacks the sixth-most yards on the ground per game (137.3), and the second-most points per game (30.6). This is a superb spot for Hall, although his touchdown upside remains low in a struggling Jets' attack. The 24-year-old lands as RotoBaller's PPR RB16 for his meeting with the Bengals.
