Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 6:
Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews has accrued two games with seven or more fantasy points, and only one of those equated to a TE1 finish. His best game was in the Week 3 loss with Lamar Jackson (hamstring) at the helm. In his first game with Cooper Rush behind center and Isaiah Likely in the mix, Andrews posted two catches for 11 yards on three targets.
Although the Los Angeles Rams are 19th against opposing tight ends, Andrews faces a major uphill battle given how abysmal this offense has looked with Rush. The veteran tight end is projected as a low-end TE2 heading into this matchup, so fantasy managers may want to look for some better options.
Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will take on the Detroit Lions in Week 6. Kelce had his best game of the season in Week 5, catching seven passes for 61 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kelce's seven catches were a season-high, and his 61 receiving yards matched his season-high set in Week 2. Kelce also found the endzone for the first time since Week 1.
His production has trended back up since his 26-yard performance in Week 3, and fantasy managers hope he can continue this momentum into Sunday night against Detroit. The Lions have the highest-powered offense in the league, and the Chiefs will be without Rashee Rice for another week, so Kelce should be heavily involved in the short to intermediate areas of the field.
Kelce has been the safety blanket for Patrick Mahomes for many years, and he should continue playing that role in a game where the Chiefs will need to score often. Kelce is ranked TE9 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings, making him a TE1 in what could be the highest-scoring game of the week.
Cade Otton, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton finally was able to do some damage on the field last week. Otton hauled in four of his five targets for 81 yards during last week's win over the Seattle Seahawks. Before that, Otton was held to six receptions for 34 yards during the first four games. Recently, Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard said the team wants to get Otton more involved.
The Bucs are going to be without wide receivers Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (leg) for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers. That should mean that Otton sees more targets coming his way. All things are pointing to Otton getting more chances, so he should offer TE2 value in Week 6.
Jonnu Smith, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jonnu Smith turned in three straight games with fewer than five fantasy points before the team's Week 5 bye and will hope to be more involved in a Week 6 bout with the Cleveland Browns. Though the Browns have allowed the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, Smith could be an important piece of Pittsburgh's passing attack with wide receiver Calvin Austin III (shoulder) inactive.
That said, head coach Mike Tomlin hinted earlier this week at continued usage of fellow tight end Darnell Washington, who out-snapped both Smith and Pat Freiermuth in Week 4. It wouldn't be shocking to see any of the three have a productive outing on Sunday, but fantasy managers can't currently depend on Smith in starting lineups.
Tyler Warren, TE, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren's rookie season is off to a spectacular start so far. The first-year tight end has now caught 23 passes for 307 yards and one touchdown while adding another touchdown on the ground through five games. Warren will now look to keep it going in Week 6's home matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals have been average at best this season against tight ends, allowing the 13th-most fantasy points per game to the position. Warren has emerged as one of Daniel Jones' most trusted options in the passing attack this season and can be locked in as a top-six fantasy tight end this weekend.
