Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 4:
Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
Although Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (wrist) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, he was listed on this week's injury report with a right-wrist injury, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports. It's something worth keeping an eye on, but it sounds as though it won't put the six-time Pro Bowler in danger of missing a Week 4 showdown against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
The 30-year-old led the Chiefs to their first win of 2025 in a Week 3 victory over the New York Giants, going 22-for-37 passing for 224 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions while carrying the ball five times for only two yards. Mahomes and KC's offense just do not look right through three weeks while being without receivers Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and Rashee Rice (suspension).
He has yet to go over 300 yards or throw more than one touchdown in a game, although Baltimore's struggling defense could be a get-right spot for Mahomes and Company this weekend.
Geno Smith, QB, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith enters Week 4 with a strong opportunity to post QB1 numbers against the struggling Chicago Bears defense. Chicago has allowed 247.7 passing yards per game while ranking 27th in total defense and 26th against the pass, creating an inviting matchup for fantasy managers.
Smith is coming off a sharp performance in Week 3 where he threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns, showing clear chemistry with his receiving corps. With the Bears' secondary routinely giving up big plays, Smith carries both a safe floor and a sneaky-high ceiling this week.
The well-traveled veteran quarterback should be started confidently as a low-end QB1 in all fantasy formats heading into this Week 4 home matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Jaxon Dart, QB, New York Giants
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that rookie first-round quarterback Jaxson Dart will be the team's starter for the rest of the season, with veteran Russell Wilson serving as the backup, according to Art Stapleton of the North Jersey Bergen Record. It didn't take long for the 0-3 Giants to bench Wilson and go with Dart, whom they traded up for in the first round of April's draft to select.
The Ole Miss product will be thrown into the fire in a tough Week 4 matchup against the 3-0 Los Angeles Chargers this weekend. While we would not recommend the 22-year-old as a DFS option in his first NFL start, Dart's dual-threat abilities at the most important position on the field give him plenty of long-term upside in New York.
Giants starting wide receivers Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson should benefit from Jaxson Dart's fountain of youth and undeniable athleticism, but fantasy managers should expect some growing pains along the way.
Bo Nix, QB, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said the team is not worried about quarterback Bo Nix's slow start to the season or him missing some deep passes in the Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR.
"The conversations relative to the 'Q' would not be about the deep balls... A lots been made about the two long balls. I'll be honest with you, driving in this morning, that would be 50th on my to-do list item," Payton said. After an impressive rookie year, Nix has been quiet through three weeks in 2025, going 61-for-95 passing for 535 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
The good news is he was turnover-free for the first time in Week 3 and also added a season-high 33 rushing yards on eight attempts. Fantasy managers have to remember he's still a work in progress in his second year. A Week 4 date against Cincy's defense could get him right.
Carson Wentz, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Coming off a successful Minnesota Vikings debut, quarterback Carson Wentz has some low-end QB2 potential as Minnesota prepares to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4.
Wentz delivered a solid blueprint in his first game, leaning on the Vikings' running game and being efficient through the air, completing 14 of 20 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. The Steelers have been among the league's worst defenses against fantasy quarterbacks, ranking 25th in passing yards allowed, 31st in missed tackles, and 29th in air yards allowed.
Turnovers often have been the issue for Wentz during his career, but if can replicate his most recent game, he can be an acceptable fill-in for managers in a bind this week.
