Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
TreVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson contributed to his team's blowout win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2, rushing for 76 yards on 16 carries and scoring a touchdown. The 23-year-old Ohio State product outplayed the Patriots' de facto RB1 Rhamondre Stevenson, who had six carries for 43 yards on Sunday.
Henderson, who missed Week 1 with an ankle injury, had 180 carries for 911 yards and nine touchdowns over 17 regular season games his rookie season for the Patriots, adding 35 receptions for 221 yards and one touchdown in the air over that span. RotoBaller lists Henderson at RB41 in the position rankings, and his fantasy stock should go up if he continues to produce at this level.
Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara returned from injury and immediately became the team's most involved running back in Week 2. He had an ugly showing on the ground with nine carries for 15 rushing yards, but he made up for it by catching five of his six targets (albeit for just seven total receiving yards). The yardage and efficiency numbers were miserable, but Kamara did what he does best: catch a ton of passes.
As long as he stays healthy, there's nothing stopping him from fetching five-plus targets every week going forward, especially as the Saints continue to show that they're not willing to give Travis Etienne Jr. a large workload. This Saints offense looks quite impressive, so there should be plenty of volume for Kamara and even some scoring opportunities. He has low-end RB3/flex appeal in PPR leagues for Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson rushed for 43 yards on six carries during Sunday's Week 2 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also caught one of his two targets for three receiving yards. Stevenson's volume diminished this week with TreVeyon Henderson back in the mix. Henderson had 10 more carries than Stevenson and played 13 more snaps, revealing plenty of information about this backfield dynamic.
Despite some expectations that Stevenson and Henderson would have relatively even snap shares, there was clearly a preference for the latter on Sunday afternoon. All signs point to a similar split in Week 3, dropping Stevenson outside the top-36 running back range for fantasy football. He can be benched in most leagues.
Emanuel Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Emanuel Wilson took on an enormous workload in Week 2, making him a high-priority waiver wire target for Week 3 and beyond. The Seahawks cruised to victory over the Cardinals, prompting them to run the ball 40 times as they looked to drain the clock. Wilson was a big part of that effort, rushing for 92 yards on 21 attempts.
It's worth noting that Wilson's role did grow after Jadarian Price (chest) exited in the second half, but he was still well on his way to a substantial workload even before the rookie left the game. Price's status is something to consider when placing a claim for Wilson this week. It's evident the Seahawks want to get Wilson involved no matter what, but he'd likely only get 20+ touches again if Price were to miss a game.
The 27-year-old doesn't have much receiving upside, but he's a high-volume running back with decent efficiency numbers and touchdown upside. He should be a priority waiver wire target in Week 3 with the potential to earn a spot in fantasy lineups right away.
Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren handled 11 carries for 43 yards and brought in two of his four targets for 34 yards in a 20-3 Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots. While Warren's numbers won't jump off the page, he actually posted the best fantasy performance of any player on the Steelers' offense. Just like in Week 1, Warren shared a near-even split of the backfield with Rico Dowdle (toe) until the latter exited with a toe injury in the third quarter.
Through two weeks, Pittsburgh hasn't shown much to get excited about from a fantasy perspective, but Warren has been productive. Fantasy managers will want to monitor Dowdle's status ahead of a Week 3 divisional clash with the Cincinnati Bengals, as Warren's fantasy outlook would receive a notable boost if he takes on an expanded role.
