Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 17:
Justin Herbert, QB, Los Angeles Chargers
He also made an impact on the ground and led the Chargers to a key win in the midst of the playoff hunt. After four consecutive games where Herbert was less than 100% due to injury, it was very encouraging to see him bounce back in such a huge way. After Sunday's big outing, managers should trust Herbert as a solid QB1 option heading into Week 17, despite facing off against a strong Houston Texans defense.
Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the injury report throughout the week in case the superstar QB faces any type of setback. The absence of Allen would certainly be devastating to many fantasy managers playing in their championship games this weekend, given his elite weekly ceiling. If Allen were to miss Sunday's game, veteran Mitch Trubisky would take over QB1 duties in Buffalo.
Geno Smith, QB, Las Vegas Raiders
Smith did end up taking three sacks, but this was his fewest since Week 9. The Raiders take on the New York Giants at home in Week 17, which is a top-five matchup for quarterbacks. The veteran play caller remains viable in 2QB or Superflex leagues in need of a starter, given this favorable matchup.
Philip Rivers, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Rivers has performed fairly well against two tough teams and will get at least one more start with the Colts technically still in playoff contention. The veteran signal-caller will be on the lower end of the streaming radar for this Sunday's game against the streaking Jags. In Monday night's loss to San Fran, Rivers went 23-for-35 passing for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
The future Hall of Famer has relied more on Metcalf over the last three weeks, targeting him 24 times, and will certainly miss his presence in an offense that lacks playmakers. Rodgers will likely lean more into running backs Kenneth Gainwell and Jaylen Warren in the passing game, along with Pittsburgh's trio of tight ends, in a tough Week 17 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. In leagues where he is available, Rodgers could be an option to target as a QB2 in superflex and is a viable mid-end QB2 for those in 14+ team one-QB leagues.
