Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 15:
Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals
Following another monster performance in Week 14, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson has further cemented his place as a waiver-wire home run. Wilson, who now ranks among the top 30 PPR wide receivers heading into the final month of the season, has gone off for 39 catches, 481 yards, and two touchdowns in the past four weeks alone, by far the best stretch of his career.
Unfortunately for managers who have benefited from Wilson's recent outburst, they'll be forced to make a tough decision on Wilson at a high-stakes moment. As the fantasy playoffs begin for many leagues, the Cardinals will take on the stingy defense of the Houston Texans, who have allowed the third-fewest points to fantasy wide receivers. But Wilson has been so productive of late that he still deserves lineup consideration in all formats once again.
Devin Singletary, RB, New York Giants
Across his last five games played, New York Giants running back Devin Singletary has recorded 320 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns on 67 touches. The 28-year-old has earned at least 11 touches in every game since Giants running back Cam Skattebo (ankle) suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 9. Singletary also logged at least 12 carries in each of his last three outings before New York's Week 14 bye.
The Giants have split backfield work between Singletary and Tyrone Tracy Jr. (hip) since Skattebo went down. Tracy Jr. suffered a hip injury in Week 13 that he has said is minor, but it could still lead the Giants to funnel more touches to the veteran Singletary down the stretch of the season. Singletary could have flex appeal for fantasy managers in Week 15 against the Washington Commanders and beyond.
Chris Rodriguez Jr., RB, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. (groin) was able to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday after being held out on Wednesday due to a groin injury. While Rodriguez Jr.'s status for the team's Week 15 matchup against the New York Giants is still in question, his ability to practice on Thursday is obviously a positive sign. Across 11 games this season, the 25-year-old has recorded 81 carries for 372 yards and four touchdowns.
Rodriguez Jr. appears to be emerging as the lead back in Washington, as he's earned double-digit carries in four out of his last five outings. If he's sidelined against the Giants, Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols would likely handle the majority of the team's backfield snaps. If active, Rodriguez Jr. profiles as a low-end fantasy RB2/high-end flex option for fantasy managers in Week 15.
Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
New York Jets running back Breece Hall (knee), who sat out of practice on Wednesday with a sore knee, is doing positional drills at practice on Thursday, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. Hall will most likely be listed as limited on Thursday's final injury report. Either way, it's a good sign that he's back at practice after picking up a DNP tag to begin the week. The 24-year-old could still be questionable for the Week 15 game this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, so his status to close out the week will be worth monitoring.
If Hall is out or limited in any way this weekend, it would open up more playing time for Isaiah Davis. However, fantasy managers may want to avoid the Jets' entire offense this week, with it looking more likely that Brady Cook will start at quarterback. Both Tyrod Taylor (groin) and Justin Fields (knee) have not practiced this week.
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Across 13 games this season, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell has recorded 657 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns on 130 touches. The 26-year-old has recorded just 35 rushing yards over the last two weeks, and he's been held to rushing yards or less in five out of his last six games. However, Gainwell has emerged as a safety blanket for Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the passing game. Over the last four weeks, Gainwell has hauled in 21 receptions for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 24 targets.
Pittsburgh is splitting backfield snaps between Gainwell and Jaylen Warren, which limits the upside of both players. Still, Gainwell's role as a receiver makes him a viable flex option for fantasy managers. Heading into his Week 15 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Gainwell is worth rostering in PPR leagues with 10 or more teams.
