Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 11:
Jaylen Warren, RB, Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that running back Jaylen Warren "will get more touches" going forward if the team can do better on third downs, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN. Tomlin also added that he's comfortable with both Warren and Kenneth Gainwell on third downs, but Warren "has to get a break at some point." Warren played 46% of the offensive snaps, his second-lowest total of the season, in Sunday night's 25-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, while Gainwell played 52% of the snaps.
The 27-year-old Warren finished with 14 rushing attempts for 70 yards and added two catches for 21 yards. Despite the limited number of snaps, Warren had his second-highest rushing total of the season. Gainwell didn't even have a carry while catching just two passes for four yards. Touchdowns have been hard to come by for Warren (he has just three), but he should maintain a safe floor as a volume-based RB2.
Darius Slayton, WR, Giants
New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring) missed his second straight practice on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. The 28-year-old appears to be at risk of missing his team's Week 11 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Across eight games this season, Slayton has recorded 23 catches for 343 yards on 34 targets.
He's been trending up in recent weeks, hauling in nine catches for 151 yards on 11 targets over his last two games played. If Slayton is unable to play in Week 11, Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and tight end Theo Johnson could both see a boost in target share. Wideouts Isaiah Hodgins and Jalin Hyatt could see their playing time increase as well.
Javonte Williams, RB, Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams was unable to offer fantasy managers much value during the Week 9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Williams rushed the ball 15 times for 83 yards and lost a fumble in the defeat. The 25-year-old was actually solid on the ground with 5.53 yards per carry during this game.
However, Williams was a non-factor in the receiving game, which hurt his fantasy value. The Cowboys are coming off a bye week and should be well rested for their matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11. Fantasy managers should expect a bounce-back performance from Williams during this one.
Ladd McConkey, WR, Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (ankle) was listed as a limited participant again on Thursday due to an ankle injury. It's a new injury for McConkey, but as long as he upgrades to a full-go on Friday, he should be cleared to play this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Week 11. The 24-year-old second-year pass-catcher has come on strong after a slow start to the season that saw him go without a touchdown in the first four games.
Since Week 5, though, McConkey has 35 catches on 53 targets for 457 yards and four touchdowns, including two 100-yard performances. He had four catches for a season-high 107 yards and a touchdown on six targets in the Sunday night win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10. As long as McConkey is active against the Jags this weekend, he should be a must-start in fantasy lineups.
Jordan Mason, RB, Vikings
Minnesota Vikings running backs Aaron Jones Sr. and Jordan Mason combined for only 13 carries in the team's Week 10 loss to Baltimore, but the running game was hindered by a significant number of presnap penalties. Minnesota committed a whopping eight false start penalties -- the most by a team since 2011 -- including five of them on first-and-10 situations, and also committed three turnovers.
Both Jones and Mason were above five years per carry, but Minnesota found itself in so many poor down-and-distance situations that it attempted 42 passes. "When you average six yards a play on offense, it's all for naught if you're going to be giving back so many of those yards in different capacities," Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said. It was a frustrating day for managers who started Jones or Mason, but an aberrational amount of penalties suggests Minnesota's top two running backs were not the problem with the rushing attack.
