Week 8 Waiver Wire Rankings - Fantasy Football Pickups Include Romeo Doubs, Jauan Jennings, Ray Davis, Tyler Goodson, Keon Coleman, Hunter Henry

Cedric Tillman - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Fantasy football waiver wire rankings for Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season. Top free agent options to add off waivers, and our rankings will help you prioritize.

Week 7 is in the books once Monday Night's double-header is concluded and the halfway point of the fantasy season is officially completed. At RotoBaller HQ, we are back with more waiver wire advice with our Week 8 fantasy football waiver wire rankings for 2024 to help add those players who could lock in a playoff spot in your fantasy leagues. There were more crucial injuries in Week 7 as the San Francisco 49ers fear wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has torn his ACL during Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. At the same time, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Chris Godwin is out for the year with a dislocated ankle.

With the fantasy playoffs rapidly approaching, it's go time to add players who could make an immediate impact on your fantasy teams. Week 7 left us with even more questions heading into Week 8. After a one-game suspension in Week 5, has Romeo Doubs become Green Bay's new WR1? Is Jauan Jennings or Ricky Pearsall set to take over the No. 2 WR role in San Francisco with Brandon Aiyuk likely out for the season? Has Ray Davis forced a backfield committee with James Cook in Buffalo with his impressive play? Has Tyler Goodson leapfrogged Trey Sermon on the Colts RB depth chart?

Our waiver wire rankings will help answer these questions -- they've been a staple in the fantasy industry for years, providing a quick-hit list of player names that goes deep into the free agent options each week. For those unfamiliar, one of the industry's sharpest fantasy football minds, Nick Mariano, brings you his weekly waiver wire rankings and priority adds for the top 60 potential options.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks

Some of the top names include Ray Davis, Jauan Jennings, Romeo Doubs, Keon Coleman, Tyler Goodson, and Hunter Henry. We recap why these players rostered under 55% in Yahoo! leagues should be on your radar when scrolling through the waiver wire for Week 8:

Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo Bills (26% Rostered)
Week 8 Waiver Wire Ranking: 8

Ray Davis operated with a 15.8% snap share while averaging 6.5 attempts/18.8 rushing yards per game from Weeks 1-5. He had also run 12 routes, collected four receptions, and assembled 18 rushing yards.

Ty Johnson had garnered a 24% snap share during that sequence, and it was reasonable to question whether Davis would function as the unquestioned lead back if James Cook were forced to the sideline.

However, Davis secured a 60% snap share during Buffalo’s Week 6 matchup with the Jets, when Cook was inactive due to a troublesome toe. Davis also surpassed his previous season highs in carries (20), rushing yards (97), routes run (14), and receiving yards (55).

Cook re-emerged in Week 7 while Davis functioned as Buffalo’s RB2. Davis played on 13 snaps, carried five times, assembled 41 rushing yards, and generated his second touchdown. He also ran seven routes and captured his only target.

Even though Davis' involvement decreased in Week 7, he should still be prioritized as a valuable insurance policy by anyone who has Cook contained on their rosters. All other managers can also add Davis, who has proven that he can perform proficiently with an extensive workload.

Tyler Goodson, RB, Indianapolis Colts (14% Rostered)
Week 8 Waiver Wire Ranking: 16

Tyler Goodson was signed as an undated free agent by Green Bay following the 2022 NFL Draft. He was also signed by Indianapolis in 2023 and entered Week 5 with career totals of 62 snaps, 20 touches, and 123 total yards.

However, Goodson has soared into relevance during the Colts’ last three matchups while emerging as a viable waiver wire option for managers. Goodson ascended into a rotation with Trey Sermon after Jonathan Taylor sustained an ankle injury in Week 4. Goodson has now accumulated 86 snaps, and his carries have steadily increased during that three-game span (5/6/14).

Goodson has also performed more efficiently than Sermon while assembling 128 rushing yards, generating a touchdown, and averaging 4.7 yards per attempt. Sermon has played on 79 snaps, leads Indianapolis in carries (27), but trails Goodson in yardage (103) and has averaged just 2.9 yards per attempt. Goodson has also run 43 routes, garnered eight targets, and generated 45 yards as a receiving weapon.

Taylor’s status should be monitored throughout the week. That should not deter you from adding Goodson, who can function as an RB3/flex on your rosters if Taylor remains sidelined.

Keon Coleman, WR, Buffalo Bills (11% Rostered)
Week 8 Waiver Wire Ranking: 10

We finally got the breakout we'd been hoping for from Buffalo Bills rookie Keon Coleman this week, as he caught four of his season-high seven targets for 125 yards. How weird that it happened to come in Amari Cooper's debut with the team.

Or maybe it isn't that weird. Having a true No. 1 changes the way teams defend you, and that seems to open up some opportunities for Josh Allen to get Coleman involved in the deep passing game. In a week where there aren't many receivers worth adding in shallow leagues, Coleman is worth a shot to see if this role continues.

Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers (44% Rostered)
Week 8 Waiver Wire Ranking: 6

That one-game suspension might be the best thing to ever happen to Romeo Doubs. Last week, he came back from his absence to catch two touchdowns. Then this week, Doubs was targeted 10 times against Houston, catching eight passes for 94 yards.

With Jordan Love throwing the ball, there's room for multiple fantasy-relevant receivers in Green Bay. The problem has been that there are too many mouths here, so figuring out who will be those guys each week has been tough.

Doubs is certainly starting to look like he might be the best weekly bet to take on this offense. He has two really juicy matchups in the next two weeks against Jacksonville and Detroit.

Jauan Jennings, WR, San Francisco 49ers (29% Rostered)
Week 8 Waiver Wire Ranking: 1

Brandon Aiyuk is suspected to have torn his ACL, ending his 2024 season. That'll put Jauan Jennings back into the lineup full-time. More importantly, it'll help him climb to the No. 3 spot in Brock Purdy's target hierarchy. That'll give him a chance to pop on any given week.

From Weeks 1-4, Jennings had games of 8.9, 41.0, and 10.3 half-PPR points. Jennings is a must-add player this week. He should flirt with being ranked as a WR3 moving forward. In San Francisco's offense, he has WR2 upside on any given week.
