Tua Tagovailoa fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 1 (2024). Should you start or sit Tua Tagovailoa for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has a favorable matchup in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and should be started in all standard 12-team leagues.
Last season, the Alabama product finished as the QB9 in PPR scoring, tallied 4,624 yards (which led the NFL) and 29 scores. However, with his legs, he picked up just an additional 74 yards without finding the end zone.
Tagovailoa is valuable in fantasy because of his two speedster wide receivers, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, who can turn a five-yard slant into a 75-yard score. In addition, running backs De'Von Achane and Raheem Mostert have also flashed incredible breakaway speed on the ground.
Tua Tagovailoa is the only QB to be top 5 in adjusted completion percentage in both intermediate (10-19) and deep throws (20+).

On Sunday afternoon, he will face a Jaguar defense that surrendered 239.8 passing yards per game, the seventh-most last season.
The O/U spread is currently set at a hefty 49.5 mark, one of the highest on the weekend slate. With a near-perfect projected 85-degree, clear skies game, fantasy managers should expect the Miami offense to light up the scoreboard in the season-opener. The left-hander should be started in all 12-team leagues with an upside to finish near the top of his position.
