BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~44 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~60
ANALYSIS: Terry McLaurin proved in 2019 that he's capable of overcoming poor quarterback play and an all-around unfavorable surrounding environment to put up numbers in fantasy football. That's the good news. The bad news is that his QB situation still looks frightening on paper heading into 2020, with Dwayne Haskins presumably in line to start Week 1.
It's never fun to bank solely on a wide receiver's individual ability for fantasy purposes. At some point, there needs to be a level of faith in the guy throwing him the ball or, at the very least, the offense's inclination to effectively make him a focal point.
On that note, volume worked heavily in McLaurin's favor in his rookie year, as he was the only Redskins player to see more than 58 targets (he saw 93). With the dearth of talent elsewhere on Washington's offensive depth chart, there's no reason to think McLaurin's target share will decrease in 2020.
McLaurin's ADP is currently WR27, which isn't even a WR2. McLaurin's projections (per PFF), though, are those of a high-end WR2 with upside to entering the WR1 realm throughout the season: 219+ PPR points translated from 68 receptions on 112 targets (by far the most among Washington's players with a 25.5% target share), 1,111 yards, and all of seven TDs. It might look like a risk to take McLaurin so early due to Haskins staying as the Washington starter, but McLaurin already excelled as a rookie and there is nothing indicating he won't put on back-to-back great seasons.
