Streaming Wars: Waiver Wire Targets for June 28

Welcome to Streaming Wars, your one-stop shop for streaming the waiver wire. Use this column to improve upon your neediest categories.

Below are your pitcher and hitter streaming targets for Wednesday, June 28th.

Let's get to it.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

Agenda

  1. Twitch?
  2. Today's Weather and Updates
  3. Tomorrow's Picks

1.Twitch?

I'm gauging interest in using twitch for setting DFS rosters and/or hunting for waiver wire talent. Indicate your interest below.

2. Today's Weather and Updates

Boston may be delayed for a passing storm. All 15 games should run. Chicago (AL) may be stormy tomorrow.

3. Tomorrow's Picks - Wednesday, June 28th

Pitchers to Use

It's not the best day for streaming a starting pitcher. Carlos Rodon is finally back from the disabled list. He'll make his 2017 debut against the Yankees. I want no part of this matchup, although it does make sense to stash him. If he happens to pitch well, sell high. Rodon is owned in 45 percent of leagues. He was hit around while on rehab assignment.

Luis Castillo made his debut last week, showing 98 mph heat. His changeup looked useful too. Owners in deep keeper leagues should snap up shares of Castillo just in case he doesn't need a lengthy adjustment period. He'll face a volatile Brewers offense.

Other Targets: Daniel Norris, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Luis Perdomo

Pitchers to Exploit

Blake Snell is back in the majors after stomping all over Triple-A competition. His issue earlier this season was one of command. Perhaps he's back on track after posting 12.48 K/9, 3.07 BB/9 and a 2.66 ERA in 44 Triple-A innings. I'm still inclined to bet on a return of his poor command. Hence his inclusion here. Consider stashing him just in case he dominates at PNC Park.

Mark Leiter Jr. is a card carrying tenth starter. He lacks strikeout stuff or any otherwise redeeming talents. Look for Mariners.

Other Targets: Antonio Senzatela, Ty Blach, John Lackey, Wade Miley, Adalberto Mejia, Rick Porcello, Trevor Bauer, Ian Kennedy, Jeff Locke, David Paulino, Jesse Hahn, Adam Wainwright, Alex Meyer

Homers on the Wire

Wilmer Flores typically bats cleanup against left-handed pitchers. That's a pleasant place for him opposite Locke.

Power bat Tyler Austin will likely draw most of the starts against left-handed pitchers in an effort to get his bat in the lineup. Also, Matt Holliday was dealing with illness yesterday. There's a tad too much swing-and-miss for Austin's mid-tier power profile.

The Twins are a deceptively potent opponent, and Porcello has really struggled lately. Look to Max Kepler, Robbie Grossman, and others to fuel the fire at Fenway. The park is notoriously difficult for left-handed power - unless it's hooked right around Pesky's Pole. The Sox have Chris Young with the platoon advantage versus Mejia.

Other Targets: Hunter Pence, Chris Young, Shin-Soo Choo, Melky Cabrera, Jed Lowrie, Franklin Barreto, Matt Chapman, Josh Reddick, Chase Utley, Matt Adams, Hunter Renfroe

Steals on the Wire

If Miguel Montero starts, then Michael Taylor need only reach base to earn a steal.

Any day you need a swipe, first look for Jarrod Dyson (Norris), Mallex Smith (Nova), or Delino DeShields (Bauer). Of those, Smith is most likely to take a base tomorrow.

Other Targets: Taylor Motter, Kevin Pillar, Whit Merrifield, Eric Sogard, Andrelton Simmons, Jose Pirela

Skill Positions

Tom Murphy seems to be getting a good chunk of the starts in Colorado. He's just 1-for-17 since returning from the disabled list.
