NFL MVP Power Rankings: Top 10 Candidates Ahead of Week 14
As we enter the final month of the regular season, the MVP race is beginning to take shape. Who are the biggest risers and fallers entering Week 14 of the NFL Season? Who is your current favorite to win the MVP? Let’s dive in!
No. 10 - Jalen Hurts, PHI
The Eagles are coming off two straight losses, which pushes Hurts to the No. 10 spot on our list. During their loss to the Bears, Hurts went 19-for-34 with two scores but turned the ball over twice, losing a fumble and throwing an interception. This was his first interception since Week 6.
Despite the two-game losing streak, the Eagles still list as the favorite in the NFC East. Through 13 weeks, Hurts has punched in 27 total TDs, with 19 of them coming through the air.
No. 9 - Sam Darnold, SEA
Sam Darnold had another quiet showing but led his team to another victory. During their victory over the struggling Vikings, Darnold was not asked to do much as he threw for only 128 yards with no scores.
Overall, Danrold has enjoyed a strong start to his tenure in Seattle, posting a 19:10 TD:INT and averaging 242.8 passing yards per game. However, his decision-making has gotten a bit inconsistent over the last month, given that he holds a modest 7:6 TD:INT over the last five games.
No. 8 - Patrick Mahomes, KC
Even though the Chiefs sit out of the current playoff picture, Patrick Mahomes is enjoying another stellar season. In their loss on Thanksgiving to the Dallas Cowboys, Mahomes was near-perfect, going 23-for-34 with 261 yards and four passing scores. Since Week 6 (seven games) Mahomes has thrown at least three passing scores in all but three games.
He enters Week 14 averaging an elite 269.8 passing yards per game with 26 total TDs (22 passing).
No. 7 - Bo Nix, DEN
Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos continued to get the job done and picked up yet another victory on Sunday night. During their contest against the Commanders, Nix was given a high volume, attempting 45 passes and completing 29 for 321 yards and a touchdown. He also added an interpolation.
Since falling to the Chargers in Week 3, Nix has led the Broncos to nine straight victories. During this stretch, the former first-round pick has averaged 245.2 passing yards per game and held a 17:6 TD:INT.
No. 6 - Caleb Williams, CHI
Caleb Williams has taken a massive step forward in his sophomore campaign as the Bears sit as the top seed in the NFC. On Black Friday, Williams was not asked to do much in their victory over the Eagles as running backs D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai did most of the heavy lifting. However, he found tight end Cole Kmet in the back of the end zone for his lone passing score.
Over his last six games, Williams has tossed eight passing touchdowns and added one rushing score while averaging 228.5 passing yards and 33.3 rushing yards per game.
No. 5 - Josh Allen, BUF
After being sacked eight times in their os to the Texans, Josh Allen ended up getting the Bills back on track. While he did not light up the scoreboard against Pittsburgh, he got the job done, delivering a victory. In this game, he scored two touchdowns (on the ground) and tallied 123 passing yards.
He sits at the No. 5 spot due to his inconsistent play. Over the last four games, Allen has totaled six interceptions compared to just 10 scrimmage touchdowns.
No. 4 - Dak Prescott, DAL
Dak Prescott has led the Cowboys to two massive victories and brought them back into the postseason hunt. On Thanksgiving, Prescott enjoyed one of the best games of his season, throwing down the Chiefs while throwing for 320 yards and two scores.
Through 12 games, Prescott is averaging 271.1 passing yards per game with an eye-catching 27 total TDs. He has also thrown just eight interceptions, with only five of them coming over his last nine games.
No. 3 - Jordan Love, GB
Despite missing his top pass-catcher, tight end Tucker Kraft, and slot WR Jayden Reed, Jordan Love has continued to lead Green Bay to a top spot in the standings. On Thanksgiving, Love marched into Detroit and took down the favored Lions. In this game, Love was near flawless, going 18-for-30 with 234 yards and four scores.
While he is averaging just 232.8 yards per game this season, Love’s elite efficiency and decision-making have kept him high on this list. He has tossed nine passing scores and turned the ball over just three times. Over his last seven games, he has thrown just one interception. Love has a critical match against the Bears on Sunday. If he can pick up another upset victory, he will make a strong case to push for the top-2 spots.
No. 2 - Matthew Stafford, LAR
After holding the top spot for several weeks, Matthew Stafford takes a slight dip ahead of Week 14. In a surprising loss last Sunday, Stafford was not at his best, as he tossed two touchdown passes but added three interceptions. These were his first interceptions since Week 3 and only his third and fourth of the season.
However, despite the poor showing, expect Stafford to quickly bounce back in a favorable match against Arizona this weekend. From Weeks 4 through 12, Stafford posted a perfect 25:0 TD:INT with 261.4 passing yards per game.
No. 1 - Drake Maye, NE
Our new No. 1 is second-year QB Drake Maye. On Monday evening, Maye led the Patriots to another victory, putting them comfortably at the top of the AFC East. During their demanding victory over the Giants, Maye went 24-for-31 with 282 yards and two scores.
Over his last four games, Maye has taken a massive step forward, averaging 268.9 passing yards and 26.1 rushing yards per game. During this eight-game stretch, Maye has thrown 16 passing scores and only turned the ball over four times.
