Rashee Rice's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 12 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Rashee Rice for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has had an up-and-down rookie season. The second-round pick is the WR45 for the year, averaging 8.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 36 receptions on 46 targets for 420 receiving yards and four touchdowns this year, including the first Kansas City touchdown of the season in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions.
Many expected Skyy Moore or Kadarius Toney to step up as Patrick Mahomes’ No. 1 wide receiver and replace JuJu Smith-Schuster. Instead, the rookie has been the team’s top pass catcher not named Travis Kelce. Yet, the Chiefs won’t give Rice a full-time workload. Instead, they have mixed in multiple wide receivers, including veterans Justin Watson and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Rice hasn’t seen more than seven targets in a game this year, including five or fewer in 80% of the contests. Furthermore, the rookie has played fewer snaps than Valdes-Scantling and Moore despite having more total fantasy points for the season than those two wide receivers combined (83.7 vs. 73.2).
Meanwhile, fantasy players can start the former SMU star as a low-end WR3 this week against the Las Vegas Raiders. They have surrendered 25.1 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, around the league average. However, the Raiders have struggled against explosive offenses this year.
