Doug's best MLB player prop bets for today (5/12/2026). Bet his home run props (HR props) and win money betting on MLB player props, including Byron Buxton, CJ Abrams, and others!
We have a full 15-game slate tonight, but the early window is where most of the value will be. The reason is that we have some of the worst pitchers in the game, such as Miles Mikolas and Michael Lorenzen, pitching in this time slot. There is also a game at the Great American Ballpark, which is one of the best hitting environments in the league.
One of the benefits of betting on the early games is that if you hit, you can parlay some of those winnings into later games. Of course, if you lose, you’ve got a plethora of games to try to chase and get those wins back. If that’s the route you go, I’d look to Texas lefties (Corey Seager), Dodger lefties (Max Muncy), and Brewers lefties (Brice Turang and Jake Bauers).
Below, you'll read about my favorite home run props from MLB games on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The current odds given reflect the best price as of the time of the publication, but remember to always shop around at other sportsbooks so you can get the most value on your home run wagers. Odds can vary significantly from one sportsbook to another.
MLB Prop Bets - Today's Home Run Prop Picks (5/12/2026)
Byron Buxton (MIN) OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+317, DraftKings)
A healthy Byron Buxton is a menace. He’s got 13 home runs so far on the season, and 12 of them have come against right-handed pitching. He leads the Twins with a .664 SLG and a .391 ISO against righties, hitting a long ball in one out of every 10 at-bats, a monster number. Buxton has four extra-base hits and a .429 AVG over his past three games, and that’s the kind of hot streak we want to ride.

Eury Perez is starting for the Marlins in this game, and while he’s not a bad pitcher, he’s not playing his best in 2026 with a 5.01 ERA. He’s allowed seven home runs in 41.1 innings, and while that’s not awful, a deeper dive shows that we can still pick on him.
Perez has been a reverse-splits pitcher, giving up a .515 SLG and 41.2% Hard% against right-handed bats. I’m not betting just anyone against Perez, but a player as hot as Buxton is a different story, and we should be able to take advantage of Perez’s struggles against right-handed bats.
CJ Abrams OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+409, DraftKings)
I don’t know where the power has come from, but CJ Abrams already has nine home runs on this young season. Even more surprisingly, he has been the best power hitter on the Nationals when facing right-handed pitching, even surpassing James Wood.
Abrams leads the team with a .642 SLG, a .347 ISO, and nine home runs against righties. While he’s only gone long once over his past five games, he does have four extra-base hits, two multi-hit games, and has a .286 AVG in those games, so it’s not like he’s slumping.

The biggest reason to get behind Abrams today is that he’s facing Brady Singer, who has allowed 2.35 HR/9 in three starts at home this year (four home runs in 15.1 innings). He’s allowed a .571 SLG to lefties, and the Great American Ballpark is the number two home run hitting stadium, by park factor, over the past three seasons.
