3 weeks agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (coach's decision) is inactive for Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. This news isn't a major surprise considering the Giants have a relatively deep wide receiver room consisting of Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard, and Wan'Dale Robinson. Of that group, Toney has the most fantasy value, but even he ranks as a low-end WR3 at best.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBallerSource: Talkin' Giants
Share:
4 weeks agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton has restructured his contract for the upcoming season. The 25-year-old will take a significant paycut after experiencing a down year in 2021. Last season, Slayton finished with 26 receptions, 339 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games. He spent a majority of training camp battling for a spot on the roster. His original $2.5 million salary will turn into $965,000 for the 2022 season. At the moment, Slayton is off the fantasy radar in most formats. Although, he could find his way into the mix, assuming the Giants lose a player or two due to injuries.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: New York Post

4 weeks agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (undisclosed) didn't suit up for practice on Tuesday. The 25-year-old was practicing with the second unit throughout most of training camp. He's coming off a disappointing season where he finished with 26 receptions, 339 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games last season. The Giants don't have too many consistent options at wideout, so Slayton should be in the mix. However, it's tough to trust him considering the Giants lack of success on offense.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Jordan Raanan

1 month agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton will be on the team's initial 53-man roster. Slayton had been on the roster bubble for most of the summer, and he's also been the subject of recent trade talk, but he'll remain with the team for the time being. However, there's still no guarantee that he'll be with the G-Men when the regular season starts in Week 1. Slayton is well of the fantasy radar to open the year behind Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, rookie Wan'Dale Robinson and Sterling Shepard. The 25-year-old former fifth-round pick in 2019 had career-lows in receptions (26), targets (58), receiving yards (339) and touchdowns (two) in 13 games (five starts) in 2021. It was very disappointing that he didn't step up given all of the injuries at the position for the Giants last year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
Share:
1 month agoThe New York Giants have received trade inquiries on wide receiver Darius Slayton, according to a source. Slayton was mentioned as a potential trade candidate earlier this summer, so this shouldn't come as a big surprise to most folks. The 25-year-old has been buried on New York's receiver depth chart in training camp behind Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, rookie Wan'Dale Robinson and Sterling Shepard. If Slayton is released or traded, the Giants would save $2.54 million in salary cap space. New York's receiving room was decimated by injuries in 2021, but Slayton wasn't able to take advantage, catching a career-low 26 passes for 339 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games (five starts). His best path to playing time and potential fantasy relevance is elsewhere.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Share:
1 month agoNew York Giants wide receivers Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Darius Slayton (undisclosed) have been deemed questionable to suit up for Sunday's contest vs. the Jets. Toney has been slowed in practice by nagging leg injuries, while Slayton played just five snaps in the team's preseason opener two weeks ago due to tightness. While the team got a boost earlier in the week after Sterling Shepard returned from an Achilles tear, he will miss the preseason finale and his status for Week 1 remains unclear. Kenny Golladay figures to serve as Daniel Jones' primary weapon on the outside, although Wan'Dale Robinson should play a sizable role as well. If either Toney or Slayton is held out, their next chance to suit up for game action will come Week 1 against Tennessee.--Jesse BorekSource: Dan Duggan
Share:
1 month agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton didn't play in the second preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday after being limited all week with an undisclosed soft-tissue injury that he suffered in the preseason opener. The fourth-year wideout has a precarious hold on a roster spot at this time, and the Giants need to get him on the field for the preseason finale if they want to showcase him for a trade. The 25-year-old was working with the third-team offense in training camp practice a few weeks ago and is buried on the team's depth chart at the position. Slayton wasn't able to take advantage of all of the receiver injuries in 2021 and finished with a career-low 26 catches for 339 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games (five starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

3 months agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton may not get a spot on the roster, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN. The wideout was involved in trade discussions last season, and as he enters the final year of his rookie deal, he is in jeopardy of not making the team. Slayton had a horrendous spring, routinely working with the second team while dropping several wide-open passes. The 25-year-old finished his inaugural campaign by amassing 48 catches for 740 yards and eight touchdowns. However, his production has gone downhill since. If he does end up securing a role for the Giants, he'll likely have one more shot to prove his worth, which could be difficult considering the team's depth at the position.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
4 months agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton had a rough spring and dropped a bunch of passes in the practices open to the media. He also wasn't getting much work with the first-string offense, although head coach Brian Daboll downplayed the importance of starting units in the spring. It was especially disappointing with Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney sitting out due to injuries from last season. It's entirely possible that Slayton could be traded or released before training camp and the preseason. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract, and cutting him would free up $2.5 million in salary cap space with just $58,000 in dead money attached. The presence of second-round rookie Wan'Dale Robinson doesn't help Slayton's cause either.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NJ Advance Media - Darryl Slater
Share:
9 months agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (shoulder) was limited in practice all week but has been cleared to play in Week 18 against the Washington Football Team after coming off the Reserve/COVID-19 list this week. Meanwhile, wide receiver Collin Johnson (hamstring) is questionable, and John Ross (knee) has been ruled out. Rookie Kadarius Toney (shoulder) is also out, so Slayton should serve as the No. 2 pass-catcher behind Kenny Golladay. However, with quarterback Jake Fromm set to make just his second career NFL start, no Giants receiver should be trusted in fantasy lineups. Besides, Slayton is averaging only 2.0 receptions and 25.8 receiving yards while scoring once in 12 games this year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Giants.com
Share:
9 months agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (illness) tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. He will most likely be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list and miss Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. The 24-year-old has caught 24 passes for 310 yards and one touchdown over 12 games in 2021. New York will have Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and John Ross as their top wideouts for Week 17. Fantasy managers probably weren't starting Slayton and should search for other receiver options. The Giants offense has been anemic with Mike Glennon/Jake Fromm under center, making Golladay and Toney deep-league options at best for Fantasy Championships week.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Pat Leonard
Share:
9 months agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton continues to be involved in three-wide receiver sets, but it hasn't led to massive fantasy production. He's caught 23 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown over 11 games in 2021. The 24-year-old has caught just four passes for 36 yards over his last three games. Slayton will look to turn things around against the Philadelphia Eagles, who rank 18th in DVOA versus WR3/4 this season. Giants' first-round rookie Kadarius Toney (oblique, quad) could return in Week 16, reducing Slayton's role in the offense. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a streamer in Week 16.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Rotoballer
Share:
10 months agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton could have an expanded role in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys if WR Sterling Shepard (calf) is ruled out. The Giants placed rookie wideout Kadarius Toney on the reserve/COVID-19 list and could be without two of its top four receivers this Sunday. Slayton failed to catch any of his three targets in the Week 14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The 24-year-old hasn't topped 50 receiving yards since Week 7. Slayton is a boom-or-bust option in Week 15, but fantasy managers should search elsewhere for a streamer even if Shepard is ruled out.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Rotoballer
Share:
10 months agoNew York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton caught two of seven targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He was second in the team in targets behind only Saquon Barkley (9) but could only reel in two of his seven targets. The 24-year-old had an expanded role in Week 13 with Kadarius Toney (quadriceps, oblique) and Sterling Shepard (quadriceps); both ruled out but failed to capitalize on his opportunity. Slayton has caught 21 passes for 280 yards and a touchdown over nine games in 2021. The Auburn product will look to bounce back and is a boom-or-bust flex against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Pro Football Focus
