Jake Burger to Miss an Additional 2-3 Weeks
Jake Burger (quadriceps) will miss two to three more weeks with a left-quadriceps strain, and in the meantime, the team will roll with a platoon at first base with the lefty-hitting Rowdy Tellez and infield prospect Justin Foscue. Tellez, who will make the start and hit seventh in his Rangers debut on Friday against Detroit Tigers right-hander Reese Olson, will be on the strong side of the platoon and will face righties. The 30-year-old lefty slugger will be a short-term waiver-wire play in deeper leagues for a little bit of power. Before latching on with Texas on a minor-league deal, Tellez hit .208 (36-for-173) earlier this year with 11 home runs, 27 RBI and 20 runs with the Mariners. Foscue made his MLB debut in 2024 and has gone just 3-for-48 with 19 K's in only 18 games at the big-league level.
