2 weeks agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Marlon Mack has officially joined the active roster. He was added to the practice squad after Elijah Mitchell (knee) went down with an injury. Now, Tyrion Davis-Price (ankle) is expected to miss time, which is why the 49ers need to bring up Mack. He's expected to compete with Jordan Mason for playing time as the backup. The expectation is that the 49ers will continue to ride with Jeff Wilson Jr. as their starter until Mitchell returns. Fantasy managers in need of help at running back should consider stashing Mack. He could have some decent value with the 49ers limited on options.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Adam Schefter
Share:
3 weeks agoThe San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent running back Marlon Mack to their practice squad on Monday. Mack was released by the Houston Texans last week and will now provide some depth for a 49ers team that lost Elijah Mitchell to injury for at least two months. Mack will start out behind Jeff Wilson Jr., Jordan Mason, and Tyrion Davis-Price, who are all on the active roster, but he could be elevated from the practice squad if there's another injury ahead of him. Mack is worth monitoring in fantasy moving forward but he can stay on waivers for now.--Matt T - RotoBallerSource: Adam Schefter on Twitter

4 weeks agoHouston Texans running back Marlon Mack has been released by the organization. The team moved on from him in late August, but decided to bring him back. Now, Houston has decided to completely move on from Mack instead of carrying him on the practice squad. The expectation is that rookie Dameon Pierce will get a bulk of the carries with Rex Burkhead being the primary pass catcher. At the moment, Pierce looks like a strong RB3 and Burkhead should have some PPR value. As for Mack, he'll have a chance to catch on with another organization before the season begins. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2019, but suffered an Achilles tear in 2020. Mack never looked the same since the injury, but hopefully he'll land a depth spot somewhere. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Mack to have fantasy value to begin the season.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Jonathan M Alexander
Share:
1 month agoRunning back Marlon Mack, who was released by the Houston Texans on Tuesday, is planning to re-sign with the team's practice squad. Mack was one of the most surprising cuts of roster cutdown day on Tuesday, but he'll stick with Houston after all as veteran depth behind impressive rookie Dameon Pierce and Rex Burkhead. The 26-year-old had a serious Achilles injury while with the Indianapolis Colts two years ago, and he's just now getting back to full health. He won't be a fantasy option in 2022 unless injuries strike Pierce and Burkhead. With the expectation that Pierce will see heavy early down usage right out of the gates in his rookie season, he's rising up draft boards as an RB3/flex with upside.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Share:
1 month agoThe Houston Texans released veteran running back Marlon Mack on Tuesday, according to a source. Although rookie Dameon Pierce was already trending upward as the likely primary back heading into the start of the regular season, Mack's release comes as a pretty big surprise. The 26-year-old was looking fully healthy after a devastating Achilles injury two years ago and was set to at least share early down touches with Pierce in 2022. The move obviously makes Pierce even more attractive in upcoming fantasy drafts as a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 in his first NFL season. Veteran Rex Burkhead will serve as a change-of-pace option and will take away valuable pass-catching opportunities for the rookie.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Share:
2 months agoHouston Texans running backs Marlon Mack and Rex Burkhead are listed as co-starters at running back on the team's first unofficial depth chart of training camp. They are followed by rookie Dameon Pierce, Royce Freeman, Dare Ogunbowale and Darius Anderson. Coming off a serious Achilles injury that limited him to seven games the last two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, the 26-year-old Mack figures to lead Houston's backfield to begin the 2022 season. However, this could be a frustrating backfield to predict early on, and Pierce has the goods to become the starter by season's end in an offense run by quarterback Davis Mills. If you're betting on anyone as a last-round RB for depth, Pierce is probably the best low-cost investment with the most upside.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Houston Chronicle - Brooks Kubena
Share:
2 months agoHouston Texans running back Marlon Mack (Achilles) said he's "there again" health-wise and said he feels good and is able to make the cuts he was able to make before a devastating Achilles injury in 2020. In his first year in Houston, Mack will compete with running backs Rex Burkhead and rookie Dameon Pierce for playing time. He has experience as a lead back, but he's also played in just seven games the last two years due to his Achilles injury. In his last healthy season in 2019 with the Indianapolis Colts, though, Mack had 247 carries for 1,091 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, adding 14 catches for 82 yards. He could get the first crack for lead duties to open the 2022 season, but Pierce has the upside to eventually win the job in what could be a frustrating committee for fantasy managers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: HoustonTexans.com - Drew Dougherty
Share:
3 months agoHouston Texans running back Marlon Mack could see a heavy workload to begin the season. The 26-year-old wasn't able to do much on the field last season. To be fair, the Indianapolis Colts didn't have much of a need for Mack and barely used him. In 2019, Mack rushed for more than 1,000 yards, so the talent is there. Aaron Reiss of The Athletic believes that the Texans are going to lean on Mack early in the season. That could be true with the Texans not having much depth at running back. The assumption is that rookie Dameon Pierce will eventually work his way into the mix. However, the Texans could ease Pierce into things, so Mack could take on a heavy workload. Now, fantasy managers will need to see if the Texans' offensive line is strong enough to actually functionally run the ball.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic
Share:
6 months agoThe Houston Texans have signed running back Marlon Mack. The details of his deal have not been released yet. However, it's likely a short term deal, while the Texans retool their roster. The 26-year-old has played a total of seven games through the last two seasons. However, he rushed for 1,091 yards and scored eight touchdowns during his last season as a full-time starter in 2019. It's uncertain if Mack will be the lead back in Houston, but his value should increase there. He might be able to carry low-end RB2 value, assuming he becomes the lead back and can stay healthy.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Aaron Wilson
Share:
9 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts activated running back Marlon Mack and safety Jahleel Addae from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday. Mack has been a healthy scratch since Week 8, so there's a good chance he won't be active on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders despite being activated. The Colts have been running with MVP candidate Jonathan Taylor, Nyheim Hines and rookie Deon Jackson on game days. In six games played this year for Indy, Mack has 28 carries for 101 yards and has caught two of his five targets for eight yards. He's obviously miles from fantasy relevance to close out the 2021 season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Colts Twitter
Share:
9 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, along with four others. Safety Jahleel Addae, cornerback T.J. Carrie, linebacker Malik Jefferson, and offensive tackle Braden Smith were also added to the list on Monday. Mack hasn't been a factor in the Colts' backfield this season, so his absence doesn't mean much for the fantasy value of Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines, but fantasy managers may want to monitor any additional Colts being added to COVID protocols over the coming days.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBallerSource: Indianapolis Colts
Share:
9 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack has been declared inactive for the Week 16 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. This shouldn't come as a surprise since Mack has sat out each of the last seven contests. Lead back Jonathan Taylor is one of the top performing rushers this season .Also, Nyheim Hines is capable of rushing the ball and is a reliable receiving back. It certainly seems that Mack's season is over with 101 rushing yards on 28 attempts through five games. It seems highly unlikely that Mack will be returning to Indy next season.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: CBS Sports
Share:
10 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack is a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the New England Patriots. He's buried on the running back depth chart behind Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. The 25-year-old hasn't been active since Week 8 and remains the odd man out in the Colts backfield. Mack is mainly a stash for Taylor's fantasy managers, and his next chance to suit up will be Week 16 against the Arizona Cardinals.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerSource: Indianapolis Colts
Share:
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack is a healthy scratch for Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as Mack has pretty much been an afterthought in Indy's backfield for most of the season with Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines in front of him on the depth chart. The best thing that could've happened for Mack's fantasy value was for the Colts to trade him at the deadline, but that never ended up happening. The 25-year-old hasn't been active since Week 8 and has played only 14 offensive snaps in his last three games. Unless Taylor or Hines get hurt, Mack will continue to be a non-factor in all fantasy leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen
Share:
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack will be a healthy scratch in Week 9 versus the New York Jets. Mack had been long rumored to be a trade candidate, but remained a member of the Colts through Tuesday's trade deadline. Mack has been buried behind Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines for playing time and managers can safely leave him on the waiver wire. There was a possibility that offensive guard Quentin Nelson could miss Thursday's contest with an ankle injury, but he will active and that will be a big boost for the Colts run game with Taylor leading the backfield. Defensive end Ben Banogu, wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, cornerback Bopete Keyes and offensive lineman Julien Davenport and Will Fries will be inactive this evening.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBallerSource: Indianapolis Colts
