3 months agoToronto Raptors guard/forward Scottie Barnes appears to be off limits in any trade discussions involving superstar forward Kevin Durant. The Brooklyn Nets have made it clear that they want a massive return for Durant. The Raptors have reportedly made a strong package for Durant, but are extremely hesitant to include Barnes. It's not shocking to see the Raptors unwilling to trade the first-team all-rookie forward. The future is bright for Barnes and the Raptors want to keep him even if it cost them a chance at acquiring Durant.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: New York Post

5 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and two turnovers on 8-for-20 shooting from the field and 2-for-7 from three-point range in Thursday's 132-97 Game 6 loss against the Philadelphia 76ers. Barnes concluded his rookie season in the NBA with a solid performance despite struggling with his shot, and finishing with five fouls in the contest. Barnes took home the rookie of the year award this season and he will be a popular draft target across all fantasy formats heading into the upcoming season.--Denis Vondrus - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com
Share:
6 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes has been named the 2021-22 NBA Rookie of the Year, finishing ahead of Cleveland Cavaliers forward/center Evan Mobley, who was also a favorite to take home the award. Barnes, a fifth-overall pick, averaged 15.3 points, 7.5 boards, and just over a steal during his inaugural season. His shooting numbers weren't the best during the regular season, especially from deep. However, the 20-year-old is as well-rounded as it can get, so if he improves his percentages, he could conceivably make his way into the MVP conversation at some point during his career.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Tim Bontemps
Share:
6 months agoToronto Raptors rookie forward Scottie Barnes (ankle) is listed as doubtful ahead of Game 4 of the team's first round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. Barnes sprained his left ankle during the first game of the series and hasn't played since. Precious Achiuwa started in Barnes' place in Game 2 and then Khem Birch filled in as the team's fifth starter in Game 3. Achiuwa wound up having a big game off the bench in Game 3, compiling 20 points and six rebounds while shooting 9-for-11 from the field. The Raptors are facing elimination in Game 4, so there's a chance we've seen the last of Barnes this season.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
6 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (ankle) is unlikely to play in Game 3 of the postseason matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. The rookie was well on his way to a triple-double during the first game of the series. However, he suffered a sprained left ankle in that one and hasn't seen the floor since. Nonetheless, while anything can happen concerning Barnes' availability, fantasy managers should prepare as if he won't be out there on Wednesday. As a result, guys like Precious Achiuwa and Chris Boucher, who had 17 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks in Game 2, could continue to see an uptick in production.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
6 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's Game 2 contest against the Philadelphia 76ers. This was expected after Barnes suffered a nasty ankle injury during their first meeting. This will be a significant blow to the Raptors offense, but at least Gary Trent Jr. (illness) and Thaddeus Young (thumb) are available. Precious Achiuwa will move into the starting five for Toronto on Monday. Fantasy managers should expect him to play nearly 30 minutes without Barnes on the court. He could be worth looking at in DFS contests. Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam should be asked to do more on the offensive side.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Tim Bontemps
Share:
6 months agoToronto Raptors small/power forward Scottie Barnes (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's contest against the 76ers due to a sprained left ankle. Barnes arrived Monday wearing a walking boot, indicative of the severity of the ailment. The Rookie of the Year finalist compiled 15 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in his first playoff game Saturday, but the Raptors will now have to find a way to match his production. OG Anunoby is likely to see an elevated role on the wing, while Chris Boucher could form a frontcourt tandem with Pascal Siakam. With Gary Trent Jr. (illness) and Thaddeus Young (thumb) unlikely to play as well, it will be an all-hands-on-deck approach for Toronto. Game 3 is Wednesday, giving Barnes little time to rest and recover.--Jesse BorekSource: Josh Lewenberg
Share:
6 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Monday's Game 2 matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. He is expected to undergo an MRI on Sunday, so fantasy managers might have to wait until after that for better information. Barnes exited early during Game 1 with what looked like a bad ankle injury. Hopefully, Barnes can suit up Monday or at least play again in this series. Otherwise, Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, and OG Anunoby are going to be tasked with the heavy lifting for this team.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Josh Lewenberg
Share:
6 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (ankle) suffered a sprained left ankle during Saturday's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. The rookie was injured in the fourth quarter, an unfortunate blow considering he appeared to be well on his way to a triple-double. Fortunately, X-rays came back negative, but he will have imaging done on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury. Nonetheless, if Barnes can't suit up for Game 2 on Monday night, Chris Boucher and Precious Achiuwa should get more action, although DFS managers should prefer the latter for their lineups.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Tim Bontemps
Share:
8 months agoToronto Raptors guard Scottie Barnes (wrist) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Bulls. He sat out of Tuesday's game due to right wrist swelling and could very well miss another game. His absence would likely mean more minutes for Gary Trent Jr. and possibly Fred VanVleet (knee), assuming he plays. Precious Achiuwa should continue to start and have low-end streaming appeal while Barnes is sidelined. Fantasy managers should check back closer to game time for another update on Barnes.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
8 months agoToronto Raptors point guard/power forward Scottie Barnes (wrist) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Hornets due to swelling in his right wrist. Barnes' absence comes with Fred VanVleet (knee) already sidelined, which has allowed Chris Boucher to slide into the starting five. Gary Trent Jr. will serve as the team's starting point guard, but Malachi Flynn should see a sharp uptick in minutes off the bench, while Pascal Siakam is also a candidate for heavy ball-handling duties. Barnes has emerged as a First-team All-Rookie sensation this season, averaging 14.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists across his first 37 games. His next chance to suit up comes Wednesday vs. Chicago.--Jesse BorekSource: Oren Weisfeld
Share:
8 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (wrist) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. Barnes has been dealing with nagging injuries for awhile, so who knows if he'll actually play. Yuta Watanabe could be asked to play significant minutes with Fred VanVleet (knee) already sidelined. Gary Trent Jr. is looking at heavy minutes and should be a strong streaming choice and DFS selection for Tuesday's slate. Fantasy managers should check back closer to game time for another update on Barnes.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
9 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (knee) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Miami Heat. He was rested on Saturday, but Barnes should be back in action here. His return should push Yuta Watanabe to the second unit. Also, Precious Achiuwa won't have as big of a role with Barnes back in the rotation. Achiuwa should still have enough playing time to be able to produce fantasy value. Fantasy managers should check and make sure they have Barnes back in their lineups for Monday.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
9 months agoToronto Raptors guard/forward Scottie Barnes (knee) has been upgraded to doubtful for Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He was originally ruled out, but head coach Nick Nurse said it's possible that Barnes plays here. Barnes returned on Friday and finished with eight points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes. Clearly, Barnes isn't over his knee issue, so the Raptors might decide to play it safe here. His next chance to play would be Monday, assuming he sits here. Yuta Watanabe could return to the starting five and have some streaming appeal for Saturday's slate.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Michael Grange
Share:
9 months agoToronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes (knee) is available for Friday's game against the Detroit Pistons. Barnes is back in the lineup after sitting out due to right knee soreness. His return will push Yuta Watanabe to the second unit. Also, Chris Boucher likely won't play as many minutes anymore. That's a shame because Boucher was playing better as of late. Fantasy managers should double check and make sure Barnes is back in their lineups for Friday's slate.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Josh Lewenberg
