3 weeks agoIt's funny that every year at the NBA Draft, once the end of the guaranteed money and live appearances arrives at the end of the first round, everybody tunes out and refers to the 60th pick as "Mr. Irrelevant." That's not very accurate though, is it? Speaking historically, read more...

3 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has agreed to a massive extension with the organization. The 23-year-old has agreed to a five-year $193 million deal, which could end up being $231 million with incentives. This deal comes as no surprise since the Grizzlies obviously want to lock up their superstar guard. He helped lead their team to the No. 2 seed and the second round in the postseason. Morant is only getting better, so the rest of the league better watch out. He could be a top-30 fantasy producer, assuming he can actually stay healthy next season.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Adrian Wojnarowski
Share:
4 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is expected to sign a max contract offer this summer, with the 22-year-old in line to potentially make up to $223 million over the life of the agreement. Morant is coming off a fantastic season, where he averaged a career-high 27.4 points along with 6.7 assists, 5.7 boards, and 1.2 steals. Morant has proven to be one of the most capable offensive threats in the league and was even in the MVP conversation throughout the year. As a result, he should be taken early during drafts moving toward October. However, his subpar percentages from deep may negatively impact his stock in category leagues, and his inability to remain healthy could burden anyone who acquires his services.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Adrian Wojnarowski

5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (knee) is unlikely to suit up for the remainder of the playoff series against the Golden State Warriors. Head coach Taylor Jenkins mentioned that Morant is pretty doubtful to suit up again during this series. This is obviously a huge blow to the Grizzlies roster. However, the Grizzlies are 20-5 without Morant on the court. Memphis was able to win Game 5 with ease while Morant watched from the sideline. Tyus Jones, De'Anthony Melton, and Desmond Bane will be asked to step up again in Game 6.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Drew Hill
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (knee) has already been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 matchup against the Golden State Warriors. In fact, there's a good chance that Morant doesn't play again this season. However, the organization doesn't believe that Morant will require surgery. The Grizzlies are already down 3-1, so it'd be shocking if we see Morant again this season. He should be a popular late first round pick or early second round on draft day next season.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Meghan Triplett
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (knee) is expected to miss the remainder of the postseason, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The 22-year-old injured his knee during the postseason loss to the Warriors on Saturday and didn't suit up for Game 4 as a result. Nonetheless, while there may be a chance Morant could make it back if the Grizzlies manage to survive the second round, he could also be in worse shape than the team is reporting. In the meantime, Tyus Jones, who filled in for Morant on Monday night and finished with 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists, should remain in the starting lineup and draw plenty of interest from DFS participants.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Shams Charania
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Golden State Warriors. This doesn't come as a surprise since Morant missed their last contest and was doubtful for Wednesday. Tyus Jones should remain in the starting five and be an interesting DFS option. Morant could very well miss the rest of the playoffs, which is going to make it extremely difficult for Memphis.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Tim MacMahon
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (knee) has officially been ruled out for Monday's postseason showdown against the Warriors. The superstar injured his knee during the Game 3 loss on Saturday, although the team has remained mum regarding the severity. It's unknown if Morant will be back on Wednesday for Game 5. In the meantime, Tyus Jones will take his spot in the lineup for Game 4, as expected, with the 26-year-old averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 40% from deep throughout 23 starting lineup appearances during the regular season.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (knee) isn't expected to suit up for the postseason matchup against Golden State on Monday night. The superstar injured his right knee late in the fourth quarter during Game 3 and underwent further testing. Yet, the team remains mum on his condition, although sources indicate it would be surprising to see him out there. Nonetheless, if Morant is officially ruled out ahead of Game 4, Tyus Jones will likely take his place in the rotation. Jones averaged 12.7 points, 6.6 assists, 1.1 steals, and shot nearly 40% from deep across 23 starts during the regular season, so he would see a ton of interest from DFS participants in all formats.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Vincent Goodwill
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (knee) exited Saturday's postseason matchup against the Warriors. During garbage time late in the fourth quarter, the superstar tweaked his right knee and was taken back to the locker room for further evaluation. He'll likely undergo more testing ahead of Game 4, but it appears there's a real chance he could miss time moving forward. If that happens, it would be an unfortunate blow for the Grizzlies, especially since the 22-year-old was averaging 26.3 points, 10.1 assists, and 1.9 steals throughout the playoffs heading into Game 3. Nonetheless, there should be an update on Morant's status over the next few days. Still, if he can't suit up on Monday night, Tyus Jones would probably take his spot in the starting lineup. Unquestionably, Jones would also be a popular value option for DFS managers.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Kendra Andrews
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was phenomenal in the team's 106-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. He scored a playoff career-high 47 points while shooting 15-for-31 from the field and 12-for-13 from the free throw line. He connected on five of his 12 three-point attempts and also racked up eight assists, eight rebounds and three steals. The 22-year-old superstar is clearly a major problem for the Warriors as he dropped 34 points in Game 1. We'll see if he can keep rolling in Game 3, which will take place in San Francisco on Saturday.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant did everything he could during Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The young guard was one rebound shy of a triple-double during their one-point loss. Morant finished with 34 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds during Sunday's contest. He struggled from beyond the arc during their first round series, but appears to have put those issues behind him. The Grizzlies will need to continue getting performances like this from Morant to have a chance in this series.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant put the team on his shoulders during Tuesday's Game 5 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored a game-high 30 points and flirted with a triple-double as he racked up 13 rebounds and nine assists. He shot 9-for-22 from the field and 11-for-17 from the free throw line in the game and he also had three steals. Morant had a number of highlight reel plays during the game, including a rim-rocking dunk over T-Wolves guard Malik Beasley, who was attempting to take a charge on the play. Morant and company will look to close out the best-of-seven series in Game 6 on Friday.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant stated he isn't 100% healthy. The 22-year-old missed nine games toward the end of the regular season because of right knee soreness, which may explain his struggles on the scoring end during the first-round series with Minnesota. Morant is averaging 20.5 points per game throughout four postseason games, nearly seven points less than he had during the year. Yet, he's been more actively involved in other areas, especially as a distributor. Nonetheless, it's possible Morant may be limited offensively moving ahead. As a result, Desmond Bane, who had 34 points while shooting nearly 67% percent from deep in Game 4, may continue to be even more involved, at least until Morant's knee is fully recovered.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Damichael Cole
Share:
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was able to record the fifth triple-double of his career in Thursday's win over Minnesota, despite scuffling from the floor overall. Morant finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, giving him his first postseason triple-double, although it came with the caveat of having shot 5-for-18 overall with seven turnovers. Morant has averaged 10.2 assists over his last five playoff outings, while also remaining an offensive focal point. The pace at which the series has been played has also been beneficial for his DFS appeal, as he has combined to take 34 free-throw attempts in the three contests. He will continue to possess a high ceiling ahead of Game 4 on Saturday.--Jesse BorekSource: ESPN
