3 months agoHouston Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate has agreed to a new deal with the organization. Tate has reportedly signed a three-year $21 million deal with the Rockets. The Rockets could've kept Tate for a $1.8 million team option, but they'd risk losing him the following season. Now, the Rockets have secured Tate for the next three seasons. His versatility is a huge asset and he's expected to get fairly consistent minutes in Houston. Despite that, Tate isn't the best shooter and is viewed as more of a streaming option.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Shams Charania
Share:
3 months agoThe Rockets exercised the team option of forward Jae'Sean Tate. The former Ohio State Buckeye has added depth for an up-and-coming franchise throughout his two years in the NBA, and he finished 2021-22 by averaging 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. The 26-year-old has been durable, appearing in 148 games since entering the league, and has provided sporadic relief for fantasy managers as a streamer. However, his shooting percentages haven't been the best, draining only 31% of his attempts from deep. Nonetheless, Tate isn't expected to be a day-to-day producer for Houston moving ahead. But he should continue to have some solid outings here or there.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Jonathan Felgen
Share:
3 months agoHouston Rockets power forward Jae'Sean Tate followed up 2020-21 All-Rookie honors by delivering a nearly identical stat line in his second professional season. But he doesn't view that as his ceiling. Mentioning a plan to workout alongside Golden State's Draymond Green in the months to come while on a podcast with former pro Andrew Bogut, Tate sees upward mobility for his all-around game and Houston's in general. Tate's minutes dipped slightly this past year (26.4 minutes per contest), but he started 77 of the team's contests. With 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists under his belt on a nightly basis -- while shooting 49.8% overall -- Tate continues to boast strong multi-category appeal heading into his third year.--Jesse BorekSource: Andrew Bogut
Share:
7 months agoHouston Rockets center Christian Wood (illness) and power forward Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) have been ruled out for Friday's contest against Dallas. The absence marks the third in a row for Wood and second straight for Tate, with the duo paving the way for Alperen Sengun and Kenyon Martin Jr. to see significant minutes and offensive workloads. With Wood and Tate out Wednesday, both Sengun and Martin collected double-doubles and tied for the team lead with 40 minutes played. Wood was on an offensive tear prior to going down, averaging 24.7 PPG across his past three outings, while shooting 62.2 percent overall. The next chance that he or Tate will have to take the floor comes Sunday vs. the Pelicans.--Jesse BorekSource: Jonathan Feigen
Share:
7 months agoHouston Rockets point/shooting guard Dennis Schroder (ankle) and power forward Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) have been deemed questionable to take the floor for Friday's contest against Dallas. Schroder returned from a four-game absence to play 23 minutes off the bench Wednesday, which bodes well for his status moving forward. Tate was absent from that same outing, his first missed game in more than two months. Without him (and Christian Wood) in the mix, Alperen Sengun and Kenyon Martin Jr. saw substantial increases in offensive opportunities, with both logging double-doubles. DFS managers will want to check back for the final word on the Rockets' injury report before finalizing any lineups Friday.--Jesse BorekSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
7 months agoThe Houston Rockets will be without center Christian Wood (illness) and forward Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This will be Wood's second game out due to an illness. Tate, meanwhile, will miss his first game due to left ankle soreness. We should see Alperen Sengun and Kenyon Martin Jr. earn some extra opportunities on Wednesday. Sengun in particular is an intriguing streaming option or DFS play. He went for 13 points and eight boards over 30 minutes in Monday's game.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
7 months agoHouston Rockets center Christian Wood (illness) and power forward Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) have been deemed questionable to suit up for Wednesday's game vs. the Lakers. Wood missed Monday's outing due an illness, having previously ripped off double-doubles in two straight contests. Tate has been a staple of Houston's starting five, but he has seen his minutes dip over the past five games (21.4 on a nightly basis), damaging his fantasy appeal. Alperen Sengun and Kenyon Martin Jr. would both stand for elevated roles if either Wood or Tate is ultimately held out, while Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green could see even more offensive usage funneled in their direction if Wood remains sidelined. Check back prior to tip-off to get word on the banged up Rockets.--Jesse BorekSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
7 months agoHouston Rockets guard/forward Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday's game against the Utah Jazz due to left ankle soreness. Prior to leaving the game, he played 11 minutes and shot 3-for-6 from the field, hitting three three-pointers while compiling nine points and one assist. We should have more specifics on Tate's injury after the game or on Thursday. The Rockets have Thursday off before returning to the court against the Denver Nuggets on Friday. Kenyon Martin Jr. and David Nwaba are two of the players who could benefit if Tate were to miss time.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: Cayleigh Griffin
Share:
9 months agoHouston Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate returned to action in a bench role on Friday against the Heat, but he put together a great performance in 25 minutes off the pine, scoring a team-high 22 points in a 120-110 loss. He hit two three-point bombs with three attempts and shot 9-for-15 overall from the field with seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. This was the first game of the season in which Tate didn't start. He was back on the court after missing two games because of COVID-19 protocols. The 26-year-old is a very versatile player and he should be rolling with the starters again soon.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
9 months agoHouston Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate will come off the bench during Friday's game against the Miami Heat. Head coach Stephen Silas found out shortly before the game that Tate has cleared COVID-19 protocols. That being said, Tate will come off the bench for this game, but will likely move into the starting five after this. Fantasy managers should check and see if Tate is available on the waiver wire. He is looking like a strong breakout candidate for the second half of the season.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Cayleigh Griffin
Share:
9 months agoHouston Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate has been cleared to play on Friday against Miami. He entered the league's COVID-19 protocols at the start of the week alongside Kenyon Martin Jr., and the duo missed two games. Martin is also available on Friday and David Nwaba and Josh Christopher have earned starts this week, but they will now take on lesser roles. Tate is the glue guy for the Rockets and does a bit of everything for his side. He's fifth in scoring, second in rebounding and third in assists on the team.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report
Share:
9 months agoHouston Rockets power forwards Jae'Sean Tate and Kenyon Martin Jr. have been placed in the league's health and safety protocols, ruling them out indefinitely, including for Monday's game against Charlotte. The absence for Tate will mark his first of the season, as he has enjoyed a scoring increase during December, sitting at 13.6 points per game across 13 contests. Martin has carved out a niche as an integral part of Houston's second unit, having scored in double figures (with one double-double) in six straight games from Dec. 13-22. Their absences at the four have paved the way for David Nwaba to start there, with Daniel Theis and Usman Garuba also candidates to see increased run.--Jesse BorekSource: Jonathan Feigen
Share:
10 months agoHouston Rockets guard/forward Jae'Sean Tate produced a phenomenal performance against OKC on Wednesday, leading his team to a 114-110 victory with a career-high 32 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and five blocks. He shot 11-for-15 from the field and 9-for-10 at the foul line. A lot of the Rockets offense ended up going through Tate after Christian Wood made an early exit with an ankle sprain. Tate averages 12 points for the campaign, so this was likely just a one-off thing, but there will be more touches available if Wood is forced to miss time. Houston already has Jalen Green (hamstring) out and it looks like John Wall isn't coming back after all, so there are currently a lot of opportunities for guys who are in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
10 months agoHouston Rockets guard/forward Jae'Sean Tate recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards in Saturday's loss to the Knicks and collected three assists, one steal and two blocks. He shot 5-for-12 from the field and 1-or-5 from behind the arc, while committing three turnovers in 31 minutes. Tate rarely does anything spectacular, but he always finds ways to stay involved in the game and such all-around lines have been pretty common with him. The Ohio State product is having a strong November, but the Rockets sadly can't compete on most nights and thus Tate ends up playing less than 30 minutes quite often, which limits his productivity.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
11 months agoIn a 120-107 loss on Sunday, Houston Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate was a box-score bright spot for the franchise. With a team-high 33 minutes, the forward recorded a season-high 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting, with 10 rebounds, two three-pointers, and nine trips to the free-throw line. It was his second double-double of the season, and he's really coming around in November. The second-year player has played at least 31 minutes in all four games this month, and he's recorded double-digits in scoring and at least five rebounds in every contest. Houston doesn't play again until Wednesday and then two more to close out the weekend on Friday and Sunday, so Tate could be a late-week add if you are in desperate need of rebounds at the end of Week 4.--Euan LeithSource: ESPN
