3 days agoChase Elliott begins sixth for the race at Texas on Sunday but more importantly the No. 9 car is not too far from William Byron (third) and Kyle Larson (ninth). It would not be a surprise if the Hendrick Motorsports cars draft off each other a good deal during Stage 1. The other good bit of news is this. With the playoff standings resetting, Elliott is back in first again and enjoys a 31-point buffer over ninth. This segment has two good spots for him including Sunday at Texas. Elliott is running better and better on intermediate tracks. He has an average finish of 13 and two wins in his last 41 races.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com

2 weeks agoChase Elliott did not have the best qualifying lap on Friday, ending up a mere 23rd. The silver lining is that the Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver keeps improving on this type of track. The 0.533-mile course kind of suits Elliott's swashbuckling style of driving. The last few years have been interesting. Elliott won an All-Star Race two years ago. Then the No. 9 car finished seventh that fall. Last year, he just had a number of issues, but early on he was in the top three or so. Expect Elliott to ride near the front fairly fast. Elliott could provide a little late fireworks in the tranquil weather conditions.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com

2 weeks agoChase Elliott qualified just 22nd for Sunday's race at Kansas. It does appear the Hendrick Motorsports Racing car has some good late speed on this 1.5-mile intermediate track. Elliott has an average finish of 8.6 and four top-five results in his last seven races. It does appear the No. 9 car is getting better and better on these types of tracks. Last Fall, Elliott nearly won finishing in second. In the Spring, the driver was in the top five after the first two stages and fell victim to bad luck, a few bumps, and a 29th place result. Elliott might not lead as many laps but the car is quick enough to easily move up position-wise Sunday to gain some playoff points.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com
Share:
1 month agoChase Elliott gets a nice boost starting second for Saturday's Coke Zero Sugar 400 from Daytona. The Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver got nudged off line narrowly by Kyle Larson just missing out on a win at Watkins Glen. The good news is that he still finished fourth. Elliott has produced points consistently all year with just one DNF. That is impressive given the volatility of the Next-Gen Car. The No. 9 car is good at Daytona with an average finish of 13.0 the last three years. That includes four top-tens and two top-fives in that seven race span. --Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com
Share:
1 month agoChase Elliott found a way to nab another pole at Watkins Glen on Saturday. It was not all great but Elliott and his Hendrick Motorsports racing car edged Kyle Larson by 0.039 seconds to start from the top spot on Sunday. When one thinks about it, on road courses, it is those top five or six sports where one wants to start. Elliott has not won once on four road tracks this year but still has won in six of his past 16 appearances on courses with left and right hand turns. He has a win and a second in his last two Watkins Glen appearances while leading 44.4% of the laps. Starting from the front gives him quite the chance for a win.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com
Share:
2 months agoUnlike teammate Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott was far from pleased with his qualifying effort at Richmond on Saturday. Elliott and his No. 9 car will begin 23rd on Sunday from Richmond Raceway. The Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver does have two top-five results in his last six efforts at the short track. Those came in the 2020 and 2021 Fall races where Elliott showed improvement in the latter half of each race. Again, starting outside the top 20 is far from ideal but he is not the only surprise on the track for Sunday's race. Place differential could help his props at the very least for DFS purposes. --Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com
Share:
2 months agoOther than one DNF, Chase Elliott and his #9 car have finished in the top ten the past four times at Michigan International Speedway. That average finish of 10.6 ranks a respectable seventh among all active drivers. The Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver has some built in DFS upside since he qualified 13th. With the Next-Gen testing, is this the year the door opens for someone other than Ford? Consider the last seven or eight winners and consider qualifying this year where six Toyota's are in the top 11. Maybe there is room for a Chevy and Elliott is getting better on banked tracks like MIS.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com
Share:
2 months agoChase Elliott will be looking to get his fifth win of the season while starting in eighth place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. Technically, Elliott did win last week, but he came across the line third, so he will be looking for back-to-back wins. However, he has a fantastic streak going on in the last five weeks; his worst finish was a second-place showing and he has had three wins and two-second place finishes, showing just how good he's been in 2022. Elliott has stats of four wins, eight top-fives and 15 top-10 finishes, which puts him in the points lead. Elliott is absolutely worth a look in fantasy.--Maison MaerzSource: NASCAR
Share:
2 months agoChase Elliott will be starting in third place on Sunday at Pocono Raceway. Elliott is the best driver in NASCAR, and it's not even close. Elliott's worst finish was a second-place showing in the last four races. Elliott is the points leader with stats of three wins, seven top-fives and 14 top-10 finishes. Elliott will likely be the regular season champ, as he is 67 points in front of the second-place driver, Ross Chastain. Suppose Elliott finishes in second or better at Pocono. In that case, he will have finished as the runner-up or better for a month when the streak started on June 26 at Nashville. Elliott should be the favorite right now to bring home the checkered flag.--Maison MaerzSource: NASCAR
Share:
2 months agoChase Elliott will be looking to go back-to-back when he starts in second place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday. He has been on fire in the last three races. Elliott has finished first, second and first, respectively. With stats of three wins, six top-fives and 13 top-10 finishes this year, it puts Elliott in first place in points. It looks like Elliott will have a career day at New Hampshire, as his best finish at the track was only a fifth-place showing back in 2018. If Elliott wins on Sunday, it would be one of the most incredible stretches in recent memory. Elliott should be one of the favorites to bring home the checkered flag.--Maison MaerzSource: NASCAR
Share:
3 months agoThanks to qualifying getting rained out, Chase Elliott will be starting on the pole at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday. Elliott will be searching for his first win on his home track. His stats of two wins, four top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes will be good enough to put Elliott in first place in the standings with 624 points. In the spring race earlier this season, Elliott finished in sixth place, which is respectable. However, we all know Elliott will be searching for the win since he is starting on the pole. Elliott should be one of the favorites to bring home the checkered flag.--Maison MaerzSource: NASCAR
Share:
3 months agoFresh off a win at Nashville, Chase Elliott will be starting on the pole as he looks to go back-to-back on Sunday at Road America. After last week's win, Elliott has jumped into the top spot for the points lead with stats of two wins, four top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes. In the spring race at Road America, Elliott had a top-five placement with a fourth-place finish. It also helps that Elliott is one of the best on road courses. In his 21 road-course races, he has won seven of them, proving he could easily dominate on Sunday. Elliott should be the odds-on favorite to win at Road America.--Maison MaerzSource: NASCAR
Share:
3 months agoChase Elliott will be starting in a great position on Sunday as he starts in fourth place at Nashville Superspeedway. In last season's race at Nashville, Elliott finished dead-last, so Sunday will most likely be an improvement. With stats of one win, three top-fives and 10 top-10 finishes, Elliott has the most actual points with 536, but is in fifth place in the standings. If Elliott were to win this race, he would jump to first in the standings with his second win of the year. Once again, he will be a great pick to win the race and should be worth a look.--Maison MaerzSource: NASCAR
Share:
4 months agoChase Elliott drove his No. 9 almost to the pole position on Saturday afternoon. He came up just 0.023 seconds shy of the lap time from Kyle Larson. The Hendrick Motorsports racer has won six of the last 13 road races including ten results in the top ten. His average finish of 6.8 since 2019 is better than any other active racer when it comes to tracks involving left and right turns. The one benefit for Elliott is the single chute. It may help Elliott carry the speed needed as he was faster than Larson in that stretch. Carrying that extra speed may help the No. 9 in passing on Sunday.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com
Share:
4 months agoChase Elliott begins Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300 right next to fellow Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver, Kyle Larson. That's right. Both drivers occupy row number eight on Sunday afternoon from Madison. Elliott has some mixed results on intermediate tracks but does have a couple of wins and nine top-ten results. He should be able to make his way up the field. He is third among active drivers in laps led at 13.1%. Only Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin have led more laps on this type of course. --Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: NASCAR.com
