Zay Jones Not Returning In Week 17
12 months agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones (hamstring, knee), who was listed as questionable coming into Sunday, is officially inactive for the Week 17 battle against the visiting Carolina Panthers. This will be Jones' eighth missed game of the year due to injuries, mostly a knee ailment. The Jags will also be without starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) for the first time in his career, so Jacksonville's offense is going to have a lot less upside against Carolina. They could choose to lean heavily on running back Travis Etienne Jr. to take pressure off backup QB C.J. Beathard if game script allows. With Jones out again, rookie Parker Washington and Jamal Agnew should see bigger roles behind Calvin Ridley and tight end Evan Engram. It remains to be seen if Jones will be feeling better in order to play in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Tennessee Titans.
