Zack Wheeler Loses Pitcher's Duel Versus Nationals
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler was the tough-luck loser on Friday against the Nationals. Max Scherzer and Wheeler traded zeroes most of the night, but Wheeler served up a solo homer to Juan Soto in the sixth that would be the difference in the game. Fantasy managers should be happy despite the loss as Wheeler delivered 7 2/3 innings with two runs, five hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts. He's been nothing short of elite recently; since his May 6 start Wheeler is sporting a 1.65 ERA with 59 strikeouts across 43 1/3 innings. His swinging-strike rate is an impressive 13.2 percent and his CSW% is almost 30 percent implying his success is sustainable. He'll be a must-start fantasy option in his next start despite a tough matchup with Atlanta.
