Yuli Gurriel Hopes To Stay Hot
5 years agoHouston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel hopes to extend his hot streak when the second half opens Thursday against the Rangers. Gurriel is off to a scorching start in the month of July, slashing .429/.478/.1.333 over his last five games with six home runs and 13 runs batted in. Gurriel is perhaps the hottest hitter in the American League right now and has been trending in the right direction for awhile. The versatile infielder is posting a .941 OPS over his last 125 at-bats and is slugging .500 with runners in scoring position this season. Gurriel may not hit 25-plus home runs but is a solid run producer who has averaged 55.5 extra-base hits over the last two years.
