Yankees To Tender Gary Sanchez
4 years agoThe New York Yankees plan to tender a contract to catcher Gary Sanchez on Wednesday, according to sources. Sanchez was replaced by Kyle Higashioka as the team's primary catcher in the playoffs after he hit just .147 with 10 home runs and 24 RBI in the regular season. The two-time All-Star went 1-for-8 with a home run in three postseason games after slugging 34 home runs in 104 games in 2019. In his six seasons with the Yanks, Sanchez has slashed .236/.320/.502 with 115 home runs and 286 RBI. He won't be guaranteed the starting job behind the plate heading into the 2021 season, though, which will most certainly drop his fantasy price drastically. But if Sanchez bounces back and manages to cut down on his strikeouts and stay healthy, he could be a savvy buy at a discounted price in 2021.
