Yankees Release Josh Donaldson
1 year agoThe New York Yankees released infielder Josh Donaldson prior to their game on Tuesday night. It's been a disastrous year for the former MVP in his second year in the Bronx. He's been out with a calf injury since the middle of July due to a right-calf strain, and he wasn't very productive at all when he was on the field for the Yankees, hitting .142 (15-for-106) with 10 home runs, a double, 15 RBI, 32 strikeouts and 13 runs scored in 120 trips to the plate over 33 games played. The 37-year-old wasn't much better last year, either, batting .222 (106-for-478) with 15 homers and 148 strikeouts in 546 plate appearances. Donaldson will reach free agency a bit early in 2023, and it's looking like he doesn't have much left in the tank in his career.
