Willy Adames Walks Off For Rays In 11th
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Willy Adames ended an 11-inning battle with the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday night with a walk-off RBI single that scored pinch-runner Andrew Velazquez. The Blue Jays decided to intentionally walk the left-handed Kevin Kiermaier, the hitter preceding Adames, to load the bases, creating a righty-versus-righty matchup against reliever Justin Shafer. It's been an up-and-down year for Adames, who went 1-for-5 on the night with one walk and two strikeouts. He's hitting .278 in May and .236 on the season. He can be left on waivers in most leagues.
