White Sox Land Prospect Jake Eder From Marlins
Jake Eder from the Miami Marlins in exchange for third baseman Jake Burger on Tuesday, according to sources. Eder was the Marlins' No. 4 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. The 24-year-old southpaw already had Tommy John surgery in 2021 and has posted a 4.12 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 21 walks and 48 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings over nine starts this year with Single-A Jupiter and Double-A Pensacola. There's a lot to like about Eder's fastball-slider combination, and he's also developing a nice changeup as his third offering. Given Miami's pretty stacked stable of pitching prospects, Eder could reach the majors quicker in his new home in Chicago.
