White Sox Bring Adam Eaton Back
4 years agoThe Chicago White Sox agreed to a one-year, $7 million deal with outfielder Adam Eaton on Tuesday, according to sources. The deal includes a team option for 2022 worth $8.5 million. Eaton is expected to be the team's starting right fielder after they considered signing free-agent outfielders Michael Brantley and Joc Pederson. The 32-year-old Eaton was bought out for $1.5 million by the Nationals after they declined his $10.5 million option for 2021. He hit just .226 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 2020 but hit .320 in the World Series in 2019. Eaton hit .279 with 26 home runs and 112 RBI in four seasons in D.C. He slashed .290/.362/.422 with 29 long balls, 150 RBI and 47 steals in 433 games in three years with Chicago before being traded to Washington. The veteran outfielder can be a low-cost source of runs and stolen bases in an improving White Sox lineup, but he's played in over 150 games just three times in nine seasons due to injuries.
