Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Still Missing in Action
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) remains sidelined for Friday's series opener on the road against the Miami Marlins. Ty France will make yet another start at first base and will bat sixth against Marlins rookie right-hander Ryan Gusto. Guerrero tweaked his hamstring in Monday's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates and has not played since. Although the 26-year-old All-Star is reportedly only dealing with inflammation and not a strain, the longer he remains out, the greater the chance he'll eventually land on the injured list. For now, he's still considered day-to-day, and fantasy managers will be hoping he can return during the weekend series in Miami. Vladdy is a must-start in fantasy anytime he's in Toronto's lineup. France won't provide the same kind of upside, but he's gone 14-for-45 (.311) in his first 16 games with the Jays. UPDATE: Guerrero did some sprints on the field and hit in the batting cage before Friday's game. According to manager John Schneider, all is going well, and Vlad was scheduled to hit on the field. He could be available off the bench and remains day-to-day.
