Tyler Higbee 2021 Outlook: No More Sharing Time And Targets
4 years agoTyler Higbee had his breakout year in 2019 when he went from little-known blocker to game-breaking playmaker. Over a fantastic five-game span at the end of that season, Higbee racked up 43 receptions for 522 yards and probably lifted millions of fantasy general managers to league championships. Yet instead of Higbee ascending to the top of the tight end fantasy rankings in 2020, he posted mediocre numbers because tight end teammate Gerald Everett had almost the same targets and receptions as Higbee. While Higbee finished with a career-high five touchdowns, his reception and yardage totals over 15 games were virtually identical to what he posted during his otherworldly stretch the year prior. 2021 should be a bounce-back year for Higbee. Everett signed with the Seattle Seahawks, and the Rams have not added a quality tight end in the offseason, so Higbee is the clear-cut top TE on the team. Even better, the quarterback upgrade of having newly-acquired Matthew Stafford at the helm instead of inconsistent Jared Goff will work wonders for Higbee's fantasy value. Higbee could become the tight end in 2021 everyone wanted him to be in 2020. While listed as a top-15 TE by many fantasy pundits, do not be shocked as a top-10 TE or higher.
