Twins Acquire Diego Castillo From Orioles
8 months agoThe Minnesota Twins acquired Triple-A infielder Diego Castillo from the Baltimore Orioles on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. The Twins now have two Diego Castillos on the Triple-A St. Paul roster -- one a pitcher and one a position player. The 26-year-old Venezuelan will give the Twins some more infield depth in the minors with third baseman Royce Lewis (quadriceps) out at least a couple of months with a severe quad strain. Castillo can play some outfield as well but is likely to stick at St. Paul for now. The fact that he's been with six different teams this offseason tells you all you need to know. Castillo made his MLB debut in 2022 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and hit .206/.251/.382 with 11 homers and 29 RBI in 96 games but had just one trip to the plate in the majors in 2023 with Arizona.
