Todd Gilliland surprised many with a 10th-place lap in qualifying on Friday. While quite a few cars turned in faster laps later, Gilliland was able to advance to the final round of qualifying, which guaranteed him a top-10 start. The No. 38 Front Row Motorsports driver got a little lucky, but sometimes luck is good. The rookie year has been a lesson for the young racer.
