Spencer Strider Plays Catch Tuesday
2 years agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (oblique) played catch on flat ground on Tuesday for the first time since going on the injured list. However, the Braves won't know how much Strider has progressed until he gets back on a mound as his throwing progression continues. The 23-year-old hasn't pitched since Sept. 18 due to an oblique strain, and it remains to be seen if he'll be available for the team's starting rotation if they lock up the National League East division and won't have to play until next week's NL Division Series. He has been lights-out for the Braves in his first full big-league season in 2022, going 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), a 0.99 WHIP, 202 strikeouts and 45 walks in 131 2/3 innings over 31 outings (20 starts).
