Shohei Ohtani Finishes Single Shy Of Cycle
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter/starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani had a double, triple, his 25th home run of the season and three RBI in the team's 6-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Ohtani also worked a walk and stole his 11th base of the season in the victory. He leads baseball in extra-base hits with 46 and is tied for second with Fernando Tatis Jr. in home runs. "He's special," said Rays catcher Mike Zunino. "There's no hiding his ability, his talent." The 27-year-old Japanese two-way superstar now has seven home runs in his last 10 games and is third in baseball with 59 RBI. He's showing no signs of slowing down and is a front-runner for the American League MVP. Oh, and he also has an ERA under 3.00 on the mound. Yep, he's special indeed.
