Shogo Akiyama Continues To Rehab At Alternate Site
Shogo Akiyama (hamstring) continues to progress at the team's Louisville alternate training site. Manager David Bell said that Akiyama pretty much has no restrictions, although he has intentionally not been running at 100 percent intensity yet. "We're pushing him a little bit harder now," Bell said. "He's going to start playing in games in the next 7-10 days. He's getting live at-bats, he's doing everything but the game action. Still on track for the first week of May -- if everything continues to go well, [he'll] rejoin us sometime in early May." The 33-year-old slashed .245/.357/.297 last year and will rejoin a crowded outfield picture that includes Aristides Aquino, Nick Castellanos, Tyler Naquin, Nick Senzel and Jesse Winker when he returns to the big leagues.
