Sandy Alcantara Officially Named Opening Day Starter
Sandy Alcantara was officially named the team's Opening Day starter by manager Don Mattingly on Thursday. While the Marlins laughably called Jose Urena their "ace" for years, he's in Detroit now so Alcantara can take over and actually pitch like an ace for the Fish. He was always fully expected to get the Opening Day nod, but now it is officially official. Alcantara has been incredible in his Grapefruit League innings, as he's yet to allow an earned run and has notched 19 strikeouts in just 12 2/3 innings of work. He'll be a solid addition to any mixed league pitching staff.
